The Family Channel 4 2008

Does anyone else remember this show following the lives of various families. Think it was around 2008 when it first aired on channel 4.

I’ve just started watching episodes again on YouTube, focused on the Hughes family.

I need a ‘where are they all now’ update. Especially the eldest daughter living at home, she seemed a bit of a wild child but made for great TV seeing her come in from a night out, phoning in sick for work because of a hangover, then immediately making plans to go back out with a friend that night 🤣

Anyone else watch this when it first aired?

We absolutely loved this programme, there was one series where the daughter had her wedding in the family garden.

We particularly loved the family who lived near Heathrow, the dad was always saying ‘cup of tea’

I really enjoyed this too - it was all so new at the time and over the years I’ve often wondered how the Hughes family are doing - perhaps it’s time for a new series! 😄

Yeah I loved it - the dad with his Christian slogan T-shirts and the mum with her bedside pile of books. I loved their sitting room that just had a huge sofa and telly Grin

I’m on episode 5 now 😂 I’ve loved watching it for the nostalgia. Watching the siblings arguing then being friends again reminds me of growing up with my brother and sisters. The dad’s a bit too shouty and argumentative at times for my liking though.

And then the fashion and music! It completely takes me back to 15 year old me in 2008!

I’ve loved even seeing how the decor of the house isn’t anything like what we see today in terms of perfection and grey/beige/minimalist. It’s completely lived in but so warm and inviting too! They even have a red painted wall!… with the biggest brown sofa!

The house phone and shared computer in the dining area also very nostalgic! It’s a shame everyone is now always available at all times on their smartphones. I imagine if the show was to be made in recent times, it would literally just be every family member sat in a different room on their phone.

I’ve started rewatching too. Thanks for the reminder!! It’s a nostalgia fest. I do remember thinking what an odd lay out with the only bathroom being an ensuite!!
