Do you remember this Covid news footage?

Chatting to SIL last night and we were remembering news footage we watched before the Christmas of Covid when the news was coming out of China about this virus. We clearly remember watching as a family news footage (would have been on BBC normal news not online) from China of people collapsing and fitting in the streets then being zipped up on stretchers and body bags and loaded into a black and yellow van by hazmat suited doctors/army. We all clearly remember this , it was not a film. What was this footage? Covid didn't present like that at all? We remember being really scared. SiL is a nurse and we remember her saying "what the hell is this thing"
Anyone else remember this footage?

Is this cognitive dissonance? Do you not remember?

Yes, I 100% remember seeing this on the news...Western media too. I remember seeing other videos with lines and lines of coffins and bodies bags ready to be buried.

I remember videos of construction worker type people frantically digging graves.

Funny thing is that all the people buried in my local cemetery between 2019-2022 all died from a natural death.

Mass graves where and when? It's unclear whether you're claiming this as a pre-known-Covid thing or just 'at some point during the pandemic'. The latter is plausible - some countries such as India did resort to drastic measure for body disposal - but much later than the period this thread is about.

Er, yes? What's funny about that. The vast majority of people die a 'natural death' (and murders tend not to be put on headstones). And a local cemetery is a very small sample.

RSV causing pneumonia was prevalent in November 2019.

Maybe but I imagine the hospital would have been able to identify that?

There were no tests after COVID was named as a 'thing' and yet people were still calling in sick as they were symptomatic and that was deemed as good enough.

I have never seen people go down so ill within hours of one another. None of us subsequently had COVID. We had all been exposed to it in the November, 2019.

It was here, it just wasn't yet going to need Government action. Not sure why anyone would find that so difficult to beleive.

I neither believe or disbelieve but I an a great proponent of A B C
A accept nothing
B believe nothing
C Check everything.

It’s difficult to believe because the greatest scientific and independent minds we have sequenced the genome, traced the steps of the virus and declared it infected its first human in Wuhan around the 17th November at the earliest. It seems fairly odd it would also be doing the rounds in your office a bit earlier.

You are certain, are you?

Yes

A random social media montage would not be on the news, except in an item about the bullshit you get on social media. In which case why would it have scared you?

This just feels like another flavour of conspiracy theory tbh.

Agree. Sewing mistrust of the BBC. The BBC wouldn’t have shown a random internet clip that was floating around as factual news without being able to authenticate.

Edited

I 100% am a fully paid up BBC supporter .
Not a conspiracy theorist. Reaso I said BBC is because that is the news my Pil always watched
Nothing om here from me is about a conspiracy, more just "here's a weird thing"

This is just one video still on YouTube of mass graves, drones, and utter scaremongering

What i think is funny...and yes I find this funny...is that many people were diagnosed with Covid in my locality in Ireland...yet we did not have these mass graves & hysteria.

It was propaganda imo.

So certain, and yet still no proof. 🤦‍♀️

The video was shown many many people remember it. The OP is correct it was on mainstream tv. Then it disappeared. It was obviously either staged or a video of something entirely unrelated. It was entirely meant to put fear into people that an Ebola like disease was on the run. The Chinese government aren’t exactly known for their subtle handling of their population.

Oh yeah the bats ,forgot that bit!
I remember the Italy ICU footage but that was much later and very scary

I remember reading about the care home in Spain that the staff abandoned and all the residents had died

Tiswa · 19/02/2026 11:10

First off it is Covid-19 Pandemic in all official reports for a reason and that is it started and was first reported in December 2019!

it was first reported as a cluster of cases 31st December and by January 1st WHO had kicked in.

there were rumours I think from China a week or so before that but nothing concrete until then

There definitley were videos circulating online like that and a quick search shows the NBC news in the US broadcast them but I think they were debunked

BusterGonad · 19/02/2026 11:12

Covid wasn't called Covid at the start it was a mysterious type of pneumonia.

And we were told at the time that COVID originated in a 'wet market'. And all the 'conspiracy theorists' speculated that the more likely origin was the Wuhan laboratory and then a few years later, it is found to have originated form the lab..

Told by our Government to stay at home while they had parties.

Told by out Government that patients testing positive for COVID were definetely not being discharged from hospitals back to care homes.

The Nightingale Hospital that was never required. All the scary new footage.

No, I don't automatically believe everything reported on the news or said by a Government minister or even a 'great scientific mind'.

deadpan · 19/02/2026 11:15

I don't remember anyone fitting in any news reports about COVID.

Needtoughlove · 19/02/2026 11:15

FlowerFairyDaisy · 19/02/2026 11:02

Maybe but I imagine the hospital would have been able to identify that?

Only if they test. I had a virus which led to myocarditis but they didn’t test to confirm as I wasn’t in a high risk group and testing wouldn’t change the treatment plan. To this day, I still don’t know what caused it and this was in the height of swine flu. I assume that is what I had but no way of really knowing.

You know when people use the clown emoji nobody takes them seriously?

OP are you sure it's not a bit like walkers swapping cheese ans onion and salt and vinegar? We all remember that but it never happened. It's weird.

And I really don't give a fuck!

Needtoughlove · 19/02/2026 11:16

I was also placed in a ward where the average patient was over 75.

Avantiagain · 19/02/2026 11:16

If it was shown on the BBC, then it would be out there somewhere. Yet still no one has been able to share it.

You can't say the OP is correct, when there's absolutely no proof.

Positivepositron · 19/02/2026 11:17

Op still hasn't quoted what she wrote, or the dates or found the school letter.
I remember following this story early January, about the 8th I think, no one was taking it seriously at the time. I was googling all random reports I could find. I remember some of these videos but they were not in December or on bbc.

Can this be found? It may not have been early but looking at that Guardian image of a man on his back in the street from China it wouldn’t surprise me.
