Anyone have a portable bath?

catshatsandchats · 18/02/2026 19:13

I live in a housing association flat with a large walk in shower. Due to having chronic pain I’d like a bath, but housing association won’t put one in and I can’t afford to do it myself. I’ve seen portable baths on websites and wondered if anyone has one and how they find it, e.g for getting in and out.

Yes I have one. My house only has room for a shower but my autistic child will only use a bath. I bought this one in 2023 and it's still going strong
( This particular one isn't in stock from this seller but it is on amazon off other sellers )

I've lived in several houses with different sized baths and this portable one is deep but is easy enough to get in and out of ( but I don't have any pain or mobility issues )

Yes. I got it off of Amazon as we live in a bungalow with a wet room but both my sons like a bath (i can't get out of one due to my disability) but both of them don't struggle. It's very sturdy.
It was £89 when I got it. Takes a while to fill up but it has a lid that keeps the water hot & you can even prop a book on it or a glass / cup of tea

I would be worried about the weight of the water if it is upstairs.

This one has been used by a few people I know with wet rooms. It’s easy to fill and the lid keeps it warm and relatively easy to drain. You can also flatten it to store it.

Oo it’s the same as the one above!

What about the weight in a normal bath if one were there?

Lonleyfox · 19/02/2026 08:26

I am amazed this sort of inside product exists. How do you fill and empty?

OnlyCosy · 19/02/2026 10:51

I never knew these existed but they look amazing, thanks for the heads up!

VanilleFraise · 19/02/2026 11:15

Wow, my mind has been blown. We're currently replacing the bath with a walk in shower and the kids are moaning. One of these might pop up as a birthday/ Xmas present to one of them.

Shower hose and they have a plug.

CasuallyConfused · 19/02/2026 11:39

How would you empty one of those? Unless you have a wet room or a shower cubical that is big enough to put it in you aren't going to be able to empty it without causing a flood.

Shower hose and they have a plug.

Well yes, but where does the water go to when the plug is pulled?

Down the drain in the shower?

Princessbananahamock · 19/02/2026 11:51

I got a pop up one paid about £30 for it. Good if you have a wet room to drain but a pain if you don’t , I use a water siphon to empty as the provided pipe wasn’t long enough. I fill it from the shower.

QuantumPanic · 19/02/2026 12:18

PinkLemonadee · 19/02/2026 11:43

Down the drain in the shower?

Right, but that means the bath needs to be half in the shower when you use it. So you can only use one of these if you have one of those seamless to the floor showers? if your shower is too small or has a lip, then presumably a portable bath is out.

LoomBandLod · 19/02/2026 12:20

We use a deep paddling pool that fits in the shower cubicle.

You could also siphon it down a drain with a bit of hosepipe?

25mini7 · 19/02/2026 12:44

Have you applied for a DFG through the council to put a bath in?

Depends where you have your bath I suppose. My bathroom is tiny with just a shower, so this bath is used in the kitchen, I fill it up with a hosepipe and empty it from a hose into my back garden

It can fit in my bathroom, but it's a huge squeeze. When it was in the bathroom I'd fill it with a hose, and empty it with a hose down the shower drain

I've had mine for 3 years and my kids still love it 😅

Unfortunately, when I say "kids", they're now 16 and 20, and I'm not sure where we would sensibly put it 🤣🤣.

Still mind blowing tho🙃

Tbf I'm early 30's and I also love it 😅

If it helps, it can be folded up...... mine lives folded up in our tiny shower when not in use

FourChimneys · 19/02/2026 13:40

I never knew these existed. I would quite like one for the garden in the summer. Part of our garden is very private, it needn't shock the neighbours.

Manchestermummax3 · 19/02/2026 13:43

Yes, I have one. We have a wet room in a bungalow but my little one loves a bath.
I've perfected it now, but for the love of god, do NOT accidently block the shower drain! 🤣
Impossible to move & took forever with a saucepan.... all i had to hand!
