Mystery holidays

Has anyone been on a mystery holiday and ended up somewhere fun? I am going to have a spell of time where I won't be working and thought about going on one.

They are ALWAYS more expensive to do if you book one of the £99 ones. Always. With crap flight times, random hotels miles from where you'd rather be with long transfers. I wouldn't, personally.

In theory I love the idea. In practice I’d hate not knowing what to pack for and not have the things I needed.

Agree. Plus you'll likely arrive there late at night on day 1 and leave early on day 3 so only have one day away for two nights and inconvenient travel times and most of them are places you can get to cheaply anyway like Dublin or Barcelona.

I'd look on Extreme Day Trips website or Facebook pages for your local airports at the 1 or 2 night options. If you're not working you'll have the flexibility to travel in the week when it's cheaper and you could go all over the place. Flights to Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Brussels and even Geneva and other places are available from about £30/40 return so worth a day trip, or overnight break and won't necessarily cost much more than £99 (which I only think you get that price if there's 2 of you and you don't choose any 'extras' like a flight that doesn't arrive at 11 pm, return at 6 am or starts outside London).

I think Germany has something like this?? But you may need to be a German citizen 🤔

I might try an extreme day trip instead
