How do you go about booking private medical treatment for a minor medical issue.

I have cyst that needs removing. I don't think the NHS will do and I'd like it done quickly as it's causing me some pain.

But I don't know who I need to talk to to arrange it?

Your local private hospital would be a good start or you could ask your GP for suggestions.

See your GP and they can refer you privately.
You can also just self book in with a clinic/dermatologist at a local private hospital and you usually don’t need a referral anymore. They will then inform your GP.
It’s up to you.

Gp should do a referral or you may be able to self refer to the relevant consultant if you are seeks funding. Locate whoever you want to see and ring the outpatient booking line to see what you need to do.

We asked our GP when we wanted to get our children's hearts scanned (a History of hereditary heart problems in our family) and he recommended a good local specialist.

Just Google private dermatologist for your area, look up their credentials, ring and book an appointment, you may need to pay for the initial consultation.

I googled my local private hospitals, enquired for their price lists and booked into one of them. No gp referral needed.

it's worth asking your GP about NHS criteria - depending on where it is/what sort of cyst it is (and particularly if it's causing pain), you might be surprised...
