Disney Cruise

Just booked a Disney Cruise for the summer - has anyone been on one? How did you find it? I’m so excited! My only concern so far is that I could only get an 8.15pm dining slot which seems late. Can’t wait though!

We did one of the first ones out of the UK during covid. We love Disney and our kids are the same. Are you doing a UK one or abroad? I really would love to do one of the Caribbean ones and go their island, it looks fantastic.

The UK one we did was brilliant! The kids club, the rooms, everything. Room service is included so make sure you do that. There are open houses for the kids club areas so adults can have a look (play), the shows are just as good if not better than what you would see in any large main city theatre. The meals are amazing!

When you board you can go on a wait list for your dinner slot to change to the earlier one. I've a feeling evertone gets the late one now and you can change it somehow in your booking if it's available - i've been looking at booking another. Join one of the Disney cruise groups on Facebook.

Many people also get magnets for their stateroom doors - we made some or you can buy them on etsy etc. Some rooms also leave 'fish extenders' outside their doors to exchange gifts with other rooms.

Just to add my youngest has quite a lot of disabilities and they were fantastic with him.

If you're into all the Disney stuff get the ears, matching t-shirts and outfits for you and your kids. If you're not, it doesn't matter, it's not something you have to do and if you don't enjoy it don't worry about it. Some don't do anything and others go full hog.

We got the photopass and made bedt use of it so it was great value for us.

Have the best time, i'm so excited for you.

Disney cruises are unreal! So much magic (and we went child free!). The food is amazing and 8.15pm doesn’t feel late when you’re there.

Where are you going? If you’re going to Disney’s private island I am so jealous.

Thank you so much for your reply, oh my gosh it sounds amazing!! Did you get the Disney T-shirts, ears etc before you went or did you buy them on the boat? Room service sounds like a good option and I’m looking forward to the shows!

We are sailing from Southampton for 4 nights to Spain. My youngest is also disabled and you’ve reassured me thank you.

Did you have to queue for long to board? It really does look so magical, I wish we were going tomorrow!

Oooh I am soooo excited now!! We are just going to Spain for 4 nights and if we like it will definitely consider going further afield next time! Where is the private island? That sounds wonderful 🤩

You'll have an amazing time. Find out if they do a pirate night on thr cruise. People get dressed up and they have special costumes and things with the characters.

We did get the t-shirts and ears before we went. I got the ears off ebay. They were miles cheaper as they came from China. You couldn't tell the difference and i got four pairs for the price of one on the ship. We ordered more when we went to Disney.

Yes, i got matching t-shirts so we could have them personalised with our names. Lot's of younger children wear princess outfits etc.

You need to book any of the extra's as soon as you can as they book up very quickly. I think they have a free princess meet that we didn't get to do. We did dothe mixology (adult only- we had other adults in our party who looked after the kids) the drinks were very strong and it was great fun.

The staff in the kids club were brilliant. They provided my son with a 1:1 as they had extra staff but this wasn't guarenteed and i don't think is the norm. He only went in for 20 mins at a time and i waited outside the door incase he needed me (complex needs). There isn't a fast pass for meeting characters but they let my dh queue then we joined him at the front. The staff were all wonderful and very considerate.

It was very quickgetting on the ship. Even that was fun but I don't want to tell you too much and spoil it.

The food is all amazing, there is so much and all delicous. We ordered coffee, cookies and mickey ice cream on room service.

Honestly you'll have the best time, enjoy every minute.

You can request to be moved to the earlier dining sitting

ForAmusedHazelQuoter · 16/02/2026 19:00

You’ll have a fab time, they really are fabulous. You can watch the shows before dinner.

Pepperedpickles · 16/02/2026 19:37

If you haven’t already done so search for the ship and cruise you’re going on on you tube, tons and tons of detailed vlogs showing everything you need to know. In particular try Adam Hatton, Cruise with Ben and David and Brogan Tate.

Oooh we are on the same boat ⛴️ if it’s the same dates! I was originally looking at regular cruises but I fell in love with the idea of a Disney Cruise. I can’t wait to see my little boys face light up!

Are you going to tell him it’s a Disney cruise in advance or leave it as a surprise?

24th August?! We thought a cruise would be a bit naff but we absolutely loved it, did DLP last year so only felt right to try out a Disney cruise this year! Your little boy will have a blast 🙂

Allseeingallknowing · 16/02/2026 21:37

My granddaughter went on one for her honeymoon. They loved it so much she’s going again this year!

CeeCeeDeeBee · 16/02/2026 21:48

We love them, we’re going on our third this year. The Dream is a fabulous ship, I’m sure you’ll have the best time!

Sorry for the slight hijack, DD has longed to go on this, but I'm worried about sea sickness. I took the Jersey ferry, which I know isn't the same as a cruise ship obviously but I felt just awful pretty much the whole time and it's made me worry.

I know about medications, bands etc and staying towards the bottom and middle of the ship, but it would be good to hear from anyone who's actually been on it what it's like.
