What little things do you do to care for your child when they're ill?

My kids are rarely sick but poor DD who is 11 woke up last night vomiting.

We were supposed to visit relatives today so obviously that is off.

She is feeling dreadful and keeps saying "she has ruined the trip for everyone" :(

In between washing loads of her bedding I am trying to do nice little things to make her feel better.

What do you do to cheer yours up when they are poorly?

I kind of love it when mine are not seriously ill; I bring them into my bed if wished and we watch lighthearted stuff on my laptop with a hot water bottle, and give them an ice lolly when tolerated to rehydrate, when they’re feeling a bit better I’ll borrow them a nice book from the library and/or do some colouring together, I have to be off work if someone’s unwell so it’s nice to relax too

When DC had a bad vomiting attack he really needed to sleep. Obviously changing into fresh PJ’s and getting him to take little sips of water from time to time with small bites of unbuttered toast later on. Other than that they just wanted to be read to until they dropped off.

Ah thanks both.

I took her for a gentle walk to get some fresh air, then made her dry toast and some peppermint tea to try and settle her stomach. She had a bubble bath and read for a bit and I gave her room a good tidy and clean so it feels nice to go into when it's time to sleep. She is now watching Scooby Doo with her twin siblings.

She was pretty ill last night and I think it really took her by surprise as she hasn't had a vomiting bug since she was a toddler.
