Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The cats have had their breakfast & boy cat is watching out the front window again - there's not much going on out there this morning. Girl cat's probably gone back to dd1's room.

I have the washer on already, for the first of two loads of towels. I'll tumble them when the washer's finished.

We don't have any plans again - more packing to do. I'll probably use the last of the boxes today & have to get some more from work after half term unless any of the shops on the main road get big-ish boxes 🤔.

I'll probably spend the rest of the day crafting - I'm struggling with the roof pieces of my thread crochet church, and pack for my trip to London to see Florence and the Machine, with dd1, tomorrow evening...very excited for that!

Dd2 has a plan for her revision so will probably sit down here and do some more maths like yesterday. We've also been re-watching some of The Rookie so are likely to watch some more in one of her breaks from revision. She also needs to tidy her room, and dd1's room! She has paper spread all over the place in both & I don't think dd1 will appreciate that when she comes home for her reading week/to work, the week after our half term!

I won't hear from dd1 for hours yet. She went out with friends last night & text she was back safely at around 6am 😮. Although, I may be wrong, they all had plans to head to Wembley Ikea today. We'll see.

Tea here will be gammon...maybe with chips and eggs. We'll see when dd gets up!

After that, we'll tidy the kitchen then it'll be my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower & shave for me, plus hair mask & any other pampery things I can think of. An hour or so chill with my book and a cuppa, and I'll head to bed early so I'm up early enough to get ready before I leave (who doesn't love a train ride in a lace mini dress with floaty sleeves & knee high boots 🤣)!

What about all of you? 🙂

I've picked up a lurgy from visiting mum in hospital over the past couple of weeks 😷
Feel shocking. Amazing how dreadful a cold virus can make you feel 😕
So, doing nothing today. Luckily its half term this week so no college runs or ironing needs doing.
I managed to do some cleaning yesterday so the house can just go to the dogs for a few days 😬
Bluergh

Tangerinesattack · 15/02/2026 09:27

Morning all.

Just about to make my first coffee then I'll have a think about breakfast. Weather is awful here - tipping down!

We've got some bits and pieces of admin stuff to do (elderly parents) but shouldn't take long then I think a bit of house cleaning. I'm making french onion soup for dinner in the slow cooker so I'll get that set up and get DH to put it in the garage to cook so the house doesn't smell. Should get that all done for lunch time, she says optimistically.

After that, I'm not sure. DH is primary parent this weekend so I'll see what he thinks. Fingers crossed, the boys might go out so I can watch the last 2 episodes of Bridgerton with some cross-stitch!

Have a lovely day everyone.

Crunchymum · 15/02/2026 09:35

Happy Sunday all.

Didn't get a chance to pop on yesterday.

Today is a low key day as we were out late yesterday (MIL had a party for a big birthday). Was lovely to see all DP's side of the family and there was lots of delicious food but we didn't get home until 10.30pm so we're only just up.

I have shopping due shortly and I plan to do cod, chips and mushy peas for dinner! I was going to batter the cod but it feels like a lot of effort at this point.

Today is just going to be lazy. DP wants to watch The Matrix with older kids later.

I have two airers to clear, washing to hang and and ironing to do. Will have another cuppa first.

It's wet here all day so none of us plan to venture far, DC1 may have a friend over this afternoon.

DilemmaDelilah · 15/02/2026 09:42

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. It's a dull day here, but not icy and not actually raining.... yet.

We have washing to dry for my daughter so we can't go anywhere until that's done. I'm hoping that will only be a couple of hours, then we will drop it back to her, no doubt pick up some more, and then I want to go and get some heavy duty hooks to put into the outside walls to hang a string of lights on. The side of our house is really dark and it's the only way to get to the shed with our outside freezer in, so I gave Mr Dilemma a 50ft string of solar lights to put down the side of the house as an extra Christmas present. He loves lights, the more gaudy (colour changing, flashing etc.) the better, and he's always disappointed that I won't let him have anything but warm white non-flashing lights.

Mr Dilemma loves shopping, so he will enjoy going to a DIY shop. I need some more books, so a visit to Hospiscare charity shop is on the cards, and I need some apples and sugar snap peas for my salads so we will probably go to Lidl or Sainsbury's as well. It's always a little risky to go to the supermarket as we always come back with things that are not on the list. I don't mind if it is things we are definitely going to eat, but random items we wouldn't use in a million years (weird sauces and vegetables ' just to try' ), last legs meat we don't have room for in the freezer and fattening snacks Mr Dilemma likes the look of, I do mind about. Last trip it was chilli and lime snacks (I wasn't with him) which at least I don't like, so won't be tempted by.

That is the sum total of excitement planned for today! Have a nice day everyone.

fouroclockrock · 15/02/2026 09:42

Hello

I’ on my second cup of tea that I brought back to bed (along with a pan au chocolate). It’s been raining for at least a couple of hours and the sound of it pouring near my window was annoying me so all windows are now closed. I’m procrastinating about finding some documents I need to upload online. It’s probably easier than I’m imagining but these things always stress me out. I’ve also got the washing machine on and will have to use the tumble dryer. I’m not sure what the rest of the day holds. I have no other plans as such!

Heyhelga · 15/02/2026 09:43

Catch up with the chores that got neglected whilst Cinderella here got spoilt yesterday I suppose....DS has his usual maths tutorial at 10. He'll then likely disappear for the rest of the day in the woods with his mates on their bikes. DH is excited about some cricket game later; India/Pakistan apparently. I want him to take some stuff to the tip before though. Then we are off to my parents for a roast early evening.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 15/02/2026 09:45

Good morning everyone. I got up early and cleaned downstairs and emptied the ashes from the fire. Got back to bed with coffee and toast and DH has just got up to make me some tea while I chill in bed with DS12 and DS3. No sign of DS8 yet. It’s chucking it down here today so no big plans. DS12 has an induction at the gym at 1 and then wants to go to the teen session that’s on at 2. Think I will take the younger two to the soft play and for a swim while he’s in. Chilled out evening with some tv and possibly a Bolognese for dinner. Early nights all round as the kiddies are back to school after half term tomorrow and I have a rotten cold.

soupmaker · 15/02/2026 09:49

Contemplating getting up to make coffee. DH came off a nightshift so he’ll be sleeping
most of today.

Me and DD1 going to the gym. DD2 probably mooching most of the day. I’ve planned to go see a pal this afternoon.

Laundry needs to be done, olympics needs to be watched, burgers made for tea, want to finish my book.

No school or work tomorrow, hurray.

DilemmaDelilah · 15/02/2026 09:49

@Tangerinesattack I love French onion soup and make a very good one, if I say so myself! (Which I do 😁). There is no way it would be ready by lunchtime though, especially if making it in a slow cooker. It takes me at least a couple of hours to get enough caramelisation on the onions for a start, and that's in a pan on the hob! Mind you, I usually do 2kg of onions at one time, because I don't see the point in making a small batch.

You have made me want to make some now... but it won't be today. Today I'm making Bolognese sauce, for tonight and the freezer, I haven't enough onions, and my back wouldn't hold out. I might add onions and good beef stock to my shopping list though. Thank you for reminding me about it.

DinoLil · 15/02/2026 09:55

Morning all!
So far, I've fed the dog!
I'm still recovering from two falls and am very ouchy. I'm going to attempt to have a shower and take the dog round the block if I can get some shoes on.
I'm feeling very useless. Good job I live alone and only the dog relies on me.
Anyway, moaning. Happy Sunday! 😊

Tangerinesattack · 15/02/2026 10:09

@DilemmaDelilah oh it's definitely for dinner not lunch - it takes ages to cook properly!

mondaytosunday · 15/02/2026 10:19

I’m still lazying in bed. Cats have been fed, I’ve looked at the kitchen (still a mess from last night) in dismay, and promptly came back up!
I have to do a couple life admin stuff I’m not looking forward to. One is I have to pick the cat sitter from three applicants (there were five but one had withdrawn and another I declined). So awkward WhatsApp exchange and really what can I even ask? She will be living in my home while I’m away. I’ve seen her reviews etc.
Then I have to figure out how to deal with two parking charges. I know I did what it says - a street I very occasionally use as a cut through suddenly became restricted but I didn’t clock this til I had driven down it three times (!!). But back in January when I went to pay the first ticket online three charges appeared so I paid all three (£240). Now just got a charges for two of them saying as I didn’t pay they are now £240 each! So called the parking number and I could not understand hardly a word the man was saying. After asking him to repeat himself three or four times I gave up and I think I got the gist but not at all sure. It says online I’ve missed the appeal date, and while I have the payment on my credit card I do not have an email receipt which gives the numbers of the charges I paid . I have to write but part of me is worried that the system is so slow that my charges will increase again before it’s dealt with!
After those two unpleasant tasks I will tidy up and then probably waste the rest of the day on my phone or reading a book (not that reading is ever a waste). It’s raining out and I have no desire to leave my four walls.

mrswhiplington · 15/02/2026 10:26

@lucysmamThere is a new series of The Rookie starting on Tuesday 17th February on Sky Witness. Looking forward it.

Taking it easy today. Just finished a coffee while the washing is doing its thing. DH faffing on the computer. Might pop out for some lunch but the weather is miserable so probably won't go very far. Fish, baked potato and veg for tea and then catch up with Casualty. Have a lovely day all.

lucysmam · 15/02/2026 10:28

@mrswhiplington I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would tbf - it's dd2's second favourite series...her favourite was 911, until they killed off Bobby!

OP posts:
mrswhiplington · 15/02/2026 10:37

@lucysmam We used to like 911 too but had stop watching it when they moved it to another channel we don't have. Poor Bobby 😩

NorthernDramaLlama · 15/02/2026 10:45

Good morning!
It’s just started raining here :-( I’m planning a super chilled day. There’s a recipe I’ve been wanting to try for ages but I need a quiet afternoon to attempt it. DD has announced she is spending the day working on her coursework and DP is going to visit his folks so I am going to get myself organised and blooming well make it! So, hopefully, something delicious for tea tonight!

Tulipvase · 15/02/2026 10:50

That was a really short term for those that had half term last week.

Half term for us this week so looking forward to that. Making a braised pork dish today. Hope it’s as tasty as the recipe looks.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 15/02/2026 10:56

Good morning lucysmam and others. I had two coffees then a cuppa with two slices of toast. After that I nipped to tesco and raced round the shelves because dd asked if I would watch dgs2 for a couple of hours while she takes dgs1 to football academy. Dgs2 is currently sitting beside me, meithering me for strawberries. Once he's picked up, I'll have a lazy day. Steak or salmon cakes for dinner. I can't decide. Enjoy your day all

frozendaisy · 15/02/2026 10:57

Morning morning

It’s hammering it down here at the moment after a gorgeous bright colder day yesterday
Drinking coffee watching the rain house is quiet
Will make something for breakfast soon, can’t be eggs it’s homemade quiche (not a Sunday roast) later

Eldest needs driving half hour to birthday gathering this afternoon (and collecting at time unknown)

Youngster needs to relax today whether he wants to or not

Have apples to bake with vanilla cream for much later

And we still need to collect the bike from a back garden we only vaguely know where it is!

Wild goose chase day courtesy of the teens.

Enjoy all

NimbleHiker · 15/02/2026 12:20

Hello. I have done 2 loads of washing. My dm has come to visit and she is droning on about the football. I honestly want to scream as i hate football and she isn't remotely interested in anything i tell her.

Lolp90 · 15/02/2026 12:24

A much needed and very long overdue lazy day today. I should go to see elderly parent.. but selfishly I'm not going. I don't even want to leave the house .. and technically don't need to. The shopping returns can be done in the week.. but that will be a bit of a faff to do week day. I fancy doing some baking.. but that would mean going to the shop for ingredients... saying that, the supermarket is next to where I need to return a few items..

I'm not even dressed yet. BLISS

Rainbow1235 · 15/02/2026 12:33

Judgejudysno1fan · 15/02/2026 12:43

Hey everyone

Im 28 weeks pregnant and just got over the flu and a skin infection. All great fun. I literally had my flub jab 4 days before I caught the flu. It made me feel less bad but I was still poorly for over a week.

The kids are currently content on the PlayStation and watching the tablet. I have zero energy but I promised myself yesterday I would do a major deep clean and tackle the 6 loads of laundry I tumble dried. I did 2 washes today and need to hang those up on the clothes horses.

Lunch is simple chicken in bread rolls
Dinner for hubby and kids is a beef stew. I dont eat beef so im having some chicken and salad and if I get a little quiet time to myself im going to polish off the rest of my Cadbury milk tray whilst watching the rest of the Apprentice. This year is so shoddy. Its mostly full of absolute morons. I think theyre looking for people now with more entertainment appeal rather than people who actually do have a really good business deal with Allan sugar but I love the show so watching it none the less. Im actually excited than when this current series finishes I could possibly have my new baby number 7 in my arms by then.....

Have a lovely day all.

Zippedydodah · 15/02/2026 13:17

Oh bum and buggeration, I was full of good intentions to post early today….. sorry @lucysmam 🙄
Having been awake since 4am, I’ve achieved remarkably little so far today.
The dogs were walked early in horrible cold, blustery rain so we shortened our usual route. Dried them off, had a coffee then thoroughly cleaned the kitchen (but not got around to doing the floor), made a bread and butter pudding and put away the washing. Refilled the washing machine twice, and then the dishwasher, had jacket potatoes with curry for dinner and DH came back from the village with decent vanilla ice cream so that went nicely with the b&b pud.
The dogs and DH are asleep, I’ve eaten too much but need to put the washing in the tumble dryer or on the clothes horse to dry.
I need to tackle the next bit of my virus shawl, do something experimental with my watercolours or rearrange my craft room but instead I’m faffing around on here…..
I hope the week goes well for you all x

DilemmaDelilah · 15/02/2026 14:04

Talking of television shows... we've just watched the second series of Red Eye, which was excellent! HUGE plot twist in the last episode. Also watched Betrayal, which was also good.

Since my earlier update I have:
Put a wash on
Gone out to deliver some laundry to my daughter and to pick up some more
Gone to Lidl... things bought that were not on the list were creme caramels and some beef to make stew out of. Nothing too random this time, but I did get onions and beef stock to make French Onion soup 😁
Gone to Hospiscare for a mooch round and to buy books... got 12 paperbacks for £6
Had lunch in a local cafe
Taken a wash out of the machine and put it in the dryer
Put the first load of my daughter's laundry in the washing machine
Made a big batch of bolognese sauce

Now sitting down with my first cup of coffee since breakfast - knackered!
