Just been to see Hamnet and DH wants to know how they cope with finding tiny very new babies to show on screen and whether any Mnetters have lent their newborn to eg Call the Midwife or any other film/TV?

There is a children’s acting agency that occasionally advertises on a local Facebook group for babies for TV and films. They are always specific with age, ethnicity, looking for twins etc so I would say this is where films like Hamnet have got babies from.

My niece was a star baby! She was 'delivered' during the opening credits for a programme called Peak Practice which was filmed locally. I'm not 100% sure but I think they gave out flyers on the maternity unit.
She was about a month old when they filmed her and it was in a very warm room. The make up team made her look newborn with fake vernix and blood and a fake umbilical cord! I think a small payment changed hands but it's a long time ago so I'm not sure how much.

Some of the babies in Call the Midwife are actually prosthetic dolls. They look very realistic.

I worked with Call the Midwife for a bit - they are swamped with people longing to have their babies included! So easy to find....
