@martha79 ooh I'd forgotten about Bridgerton! Looking forward to that.

JewelleryCat · 27/02/2026 09:44

Morning all, another dry day which is good

@TeaAndStrumpets that sounds awful with the dressings. Can the nurses help with dressings at the doctors surgery?

Swanhilde · 27/02/2026 09:53

Heading off down to the allotment - very wet and soggy here 🌧️☔🌱💚

FurForksSake · 27/02/2026 09:54

@TeaAndStrumpets your poor feet. My mum poured a kettle over her feet and she had to have many surgeries and it was so traumatic. Pulling them open sounds utterly awful. Can you share the name of the boook?

I went to hydro yesterday and my chest muscles are in agony! My legs aren’t, so I obviously could have pushed more. I’m shattered though. I’m working from home till 12 and then off all next week. I want to do lots of gardening and pottery.

missed a call to book my ultrasound, called straight back and got their voicemail. I’ve sent an email but must call them.

Thanks I'm managing OK buying better dressings via Amazon. The Urgent Care ones I was given didn't cover enough wound! It was a long line of blisters from the top of my instep down the side so they're in an awkward spot. I'm keeping them clean and dry which is all I can do...I'm just impatient!

Oh your poor Mum! These things are such a split second thing.

Sorry about your chest. Is it costochondritis? That's horrible. Hot water bottle helps I find (not TOO hot lol)

The book I am reading is Mistress of Netherfield by Julia Winter. She has written three books all using P & P characters. I read one of hers on Kindle Unlimited wherein Mr Darcy is an unwelcome heir to Pemberley, home after years abroad. The author based it on The Quiet Gentleman by Georgette Heyer. I enjoyed it so much I have bought her other two.

Mistress of Netherfield is in some ways rather a melancholy book in that Elizabeth is widowed after an abusive marriage so she is not looking for another husband. We are allowed into Darcy's innermost thoughts and he is even more of an arrogant snob than he is in the original! However he does try very hard to be a better person. I loved it!

Afternoon all. Sunny but cold here.
@TeaAndStrumpets your poor feet. Hope the dressings you've ordered help.
@FurForksSake ouch. Hope it eases off so you can do everything next week.

TodayIsatrickyone · 27/02/2026 13:49

Afternoon all, I’m sure those that work will be very relieved it’s finally Friday.
Early Hospital appointment here which I’ve been anxious about really but it went okay. Only issue was they hadn’t booked me an echocardiogram for today and the slots were all taken which is the test I really needed so have to go back again next week which means more rest days needed ME wise. So I may as well quit worrying til that’s done and I see the specialist for the results which will likely take some time. Blood pressure high again but it’s been okay at home so I’m pretty sure it’s the stress and effort of getting to appointments that sends it rocketing.
Feels cold and wet here so I’m back in bed for a rest after a busy morning. Got my heated throw on so the dog is happy and going to try and listen to my current audio book.

The online yoga class aimes at CFS/ long covid sounds great @martha79 Id love to try something like that but I know I wouldn't manage a normal class.

@TeaAndStrumpets hope a barefoot day helps things heal

@FurForksSake well done on getting to the end of week one work wise! Enjoy some things to give you joy next week, it’s so deserved.

Orangesandlemons77 · 27/02/2026 14:05

Quiet day here Visible app gave me a better score today after two days resting.

Had a few housework things to do so been listening to radio four in between.

Still trying to get a hang of pacing and reducing daily activities. I'll get there I suppose!

Hoping for a peaceful evening for all.

TeaAndStrumpets · 27/02/2026 14:30

@TodayIsatrickyone how frustrating!

Last time I had an echocardiogram it was done on a Saturday morning 30 miles away, in a portacabin, so you going to a hospital is good! I think they send people all over the county to get through the waiting list. I was alone in the building with the technician, it felt a bit odd even though he was perfectly fine. Later on when I got home I realised I'd been so flustered I'd forgotten to pull off the electrode pads! I go to pieces when I get stressed.

Hope you get seen soon.

Oh well done on the pacing. It really is worth it!

Went to the allotment and got wet and muddy clearing out the raised bed ready for this year. It was great 🌱

Came home, had a big bowl of porridge and tea, an Epson salt bath and a cuddle with the cat 😺

I am now in bed with another cuppa and will stay here for the rest of the afternoon. Cheesy leek and potato pie with baked beans for tea, DH will help with the prep 😋

It's such a hopeful time of year! Nice to catch up with some gardening.

JewelleryCat · 27/02/2026 16:06

It’s raining here a bit now after a nice dry morning, not a lot

TodayIsatrickyone · 27/02/2026 16:32

Thanks @TeaAndStrumpets the 30 mile trip sounds a lot! I’m lucky our nearest hospital is only a 5 min drive though it’s being rebuilt and the cardiac unit is now a 15 min walk from the car park but DH just grabbed a wheelchair. No way I could have done that without him. In some ways it was maybe good I could split the tests into two days, would have been a long morning otherwise. ECG today was all fine and specialist nurse quite reassuring after listening to my heart so I’m less worried than I was a few weeks ago. Have slept for 2 hours this afternoon!

Pacing does take time @Orangesandlemons77 but if I’m really trying to get back on a more even keel I sometimes set a timer on my phone usually for 10 or 15 mins Then sit for the same time, then repeat. That way I’m less inclined to just finish this before I sit down! Also I can do something in two 15 min sessions whereas if I do 30 mins straight off, that would be too much if that makes sense. Otherwise I can easily potter for ages and then suddenly realise I really need to stop, when it’s too late then. It’s all very frustrating as I’d love to just get on with stuff but it’s the only thing that seems to work.

martha79 · 27/02/2026 16:43

@TodayIsatrickyone I've been doing some of the classes with https://suzybolt.com/rest-repair-recover/ for a couple of months - including some of the yoga, but mostly breathwork and the evening ones aimed at sleep.

This morning's class with the local group was good - very small movements, and they encourage you to do less than you think you can, and rest a lot. My hips struggled a bit with lying on the floor for so long, but I did feel better for it generally. Had lunch after then went straight to bed and have just emerged.

Rest Repair Recover

Rest Repair Recover is a programme specifically designed to help people with chronic illnesses like Long Covid and Chronic Fatigue to recover.

TodayIsatrickyone · 27/02/2026 16:47

@martha79 ‘encouraging you to do less than you think you can do’ sounds perfect!
Thanks for the link, I’ll take a look.

FurForksSake · 27/02/2026 21:16

I like this idea of being encouraged to do less. It’s a big shift for me and I need to learn to pace. I’m an all or nothing girly.

ive got my heat pad on for my shoulders and chest. I’ve covered the really bad shoulder in voltarol and taken gabapentin, cocodamol 30/500 and naproxen. Everything still hurts and I cried taking my jumper off. Fgs.

Went to school to see ds2 get the star of the week award. We then had McDonald’s to celebrate and because I’ve logged back into my nhs email and therefore my McDonald app and I had lots of expiring points 🤣

Did anyone watch Astrid tonight? How cute are Astrid and Tetsuo?

Saving up the episodes for a binge! It's such fun.

TeaAndStrumpets · 28/02/2026 07:48

Morning all!

Woke up with palpitations again but it's been a busy week. Three house viewings, including a second one, and we are chewing over an offer. Perhaps I can stop dusting!

FuzzyPuffling · 28/02/2026 08:42

Morning everyone...It's actually sunny here this morning, which makes a welcome change. I hope to spend some time in my (very small) garden to get it ready for all the future sprouting.

I have four new dahlias arriving soon. I've never really grown them before, but last year DD1 gave me some tubers and I might be hooked.

I've not watched it but might need to give it a try - I enjoyed Patience which was the UK spin-off set in York.

Fingers crossed on the house offer @TeaAndStrumpets

Enjoy your gardening @FuzzyPuffling

Better sleep last night and the Visible app was more pleased with me this morning. I still feel quite fuzzy and achy though.

I've just re-joined the library and had the email to say my card is ready to collect. Not quite sure I'm up to the walk there but am going to head out later and see how it goes. It does also mean I have access to the e-book and audio book library too so can always explore that.

TeaAndStrumpets · 28/02/2026 09:16

You will love Astrid @martha79 it has that extra something.

Good idea to get a library card. I let my membership lapse because it was too much effort to get signed up again and trek into town, but will definitely add it to my list when I move house. I have spent a fortune on ebooks since we de-cluttered our house for sale, all my favourite books are boxed up in storage!

TodayIsatrickyone · 28/02/2026 09:50

Morning all, feeling tired and achy after yesterdays appointment but the sun is shining so hopefully a potter in the garden is on the cards.

@TeaAndStrumpets good news re the offer and 🤞you can stop the dusting soon!

@JewelleryCat was too tired last night to watch Astrid but will over the weekend. Astrid and Tetsuo make me say ‘Aww’ out loud, their relationship is just so sweet.

@martha79 havent been to our local library in years ( since the kids were little) but I maybe should give it a go again as it would be a little outing I could manage on a better day and I do like a library! Thanks for the idea. Hope you feel able to collect your card today.

Enjoy the garden @FuzzyPuffling

Have a peaceful Saturday everyone 😊📖🌱
