Instagram music trends, do they drive you crazy?

I’m currently thinking of the “time cast a spell on you one” which must play on 50% of posts which I scroll through at the moment which I just can’t stand anymore.
I guess it’s a trend like any other but it really starts to make me irrationally angry when I hear the same lines over and over and it actually has the opposite effect of what the poster is trying to achieve as it makes me scroll by much faster.
obviously I’m using Instagram too much if I’m hearing it so much that it makes me this annoyed, but I wonder if anyone else feels the same with these over used music clips?

Agree.

Absolutely hate them, and that ones particularly bad.

It’s the one that comes with text saying “in your 30s someone will tell you to xyz….its very important you don’t listen to them” ?

Nauseating.

They are all so self congratulatory, with people putting up shameless selfies of their life choices whilst giving themselves a huge pat on the back.

People would have totally cringed at doing that 10 years ago, yet are so comfortable with it now.

Another trend I’m seeing is someone sitting in front of the camera “daring” themselves not to dance to music from the 90s/00/10s or whatever. They bite their lip or hands in frustration before finally “losing” and bopping around to the music BlushConfused

Agree! I particularly hate that ‘doooo de do de do de dooo’ that’s the background on anything vaguely comedy.

InWithThePlums · 14/02/2026 11:37

It’s why I’m not on instagram.

The worst people in the world are the ones who scroll through insta on public transport without headphones in.

Yes that 'someone will tell you something and it's important you don't listen to them' is nauseating.
I also hate the hashtag 2016 trend, but marginally less so as it features Piano Man which is reminiscent of a time when Billy Joel was still good before it all went to shit with Uptown Girl (which was actually released in 1983, an otherwise very great year for music.) So, you know, swings and roundabouts.

That’s one of my favourite Fleetwood Mac tunes, I love it so much. It being ‘trendy’ at the moment has actually got my dd into Fleetwood Mac so I’m ecstatic!

I’ve come to hate the song now which is a shame!

Oh yes! Completely agree with this about the “you must listen to them / you must not listen to them”

Glad it’s not just me!

Can’t abide the transition one to John Hamm in the club - ‘ooohhhh baby turn the lights out’

nor the one that builds to ‘praise god’ by Kanye west - usually used by those showing us something ‘heartfelt’

I like the naughty sniggering chihuahua though

1000StrawberryLollies · 14/02/2026 13:48

I've ditched Instagram (and Facebook) but when I did have it, I didn't have the sound on unless there was something I actually wanted to listen to.

ImPamDoove · 14/02/2026 13:52

Aren’t they awful? All over TikTok too. If I never hear that fucking Fleetwood Mac track again, it’ll be too soon. They are such sheep.
