Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot - big mug today, I'm feeling the need for a slow, cosy, day. The cats have had breakfast & girl cat has gone for a snooze at the top of the cat tree. Boy cat's watching the world go by in the living room window.

We don't have much in the way of plans today. I'll probably pack some more boxes, do some more house hunting, and do some crafting - a lot of it is packed now so less and less out to do. I might get out my jewellery and find some earrings to go with my outfit for seeing Florence and the Machine on Monday with dd1.

Dd2 will do some more revision I expect, ready for the last week of mocks after half term. I'll get her to sit down here with me for a while - we have an episode of The Rookie to finish.

Tea will be garlic & honey chicken, some sort of rice or maybe wedges, and tenderstem broccoli. Followed by something sweet but not sure what yet 🤔.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning! It’s sunny here (NE)! I’m setting off shortly to take DS to an orchestra rehearsal and rather than come home and do jobs I’m going to stay and have a day in the city pottering round the shops by myself. Picking DS up again late afternoon, then coming home. DH is on dinner duty and I think we are having fajitas. Probably start season 3 of The Diplomat tonight which we are all enjoying. Hope everyone else has sunshine today!

FayKnights · 14/02/2026 09:25

Morning @lucysmam

I just had a massive mug of tea too, and ended up taking it in the bath with me, which weirdly always feels like a treat.

If you need a cosy day can highly recommend Small Prophets on BBC for a wholesome, beautifully written watch.

I’ve just finished The Rookie series, thanks to your recommendation on here, absolutely loved it and cannot wait for series 8! I downloaded episodes to watch on the commute to work. I’ve got a terrible crush on Tim 😁

I have my fingers crossed on the house hunting for you.

I’m heading out to meet a friend for breakfast shortly, then dogs will be getting a good run in the woods. My friends husband is djing tonight so we are going to have a dance at the local Working Man’s club, drinks are like union prices from the 90s!

Have a good day all ❤️

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 14/02/2026 09:31

Good morning Lucysmam and others. It's a bright but freezing cold morning here in Central Scotland at -3°. I'm heading out imminently to scrape the car before meeting a friend for second breakfast at the garden centre. I've had 2 coffees and a cuppa with toast earlier. The rest of the day I will strip the bed and catch up on housework and Winter Olympics. Dinner will probably be pasta. Have a good day all

DilemmaDelilah · 14/02/2026 09:37

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone, and Happy Valentine's Day!

I had a lovely card from Mr Dilemma first thing this morning, and he had an equally nice one from me. He likes the ones with lots of mushy words inside, so that's what I got him.

Mr Dilemma has just left to pick up some more laundry from my daughter. Apparently she put it outside her front door for him to pick up yesterday but neglected to let us know. It was raining hard yesterday so I expect it will be wet and heavy. That will be what we are doing today 🙁.

No plans for anything else in particular, certainly no Valentine's Day plans. I'm cooking a stir fry for myself this evening - Mr Dilemma will cook himself something else. He has gone off stir fry, but it's full of vegetables and low fat so very good for me.

It's COLD here this morning, after a relatively mild (but very wet) start to the year. Mr Dilemma was surprised that the car was frozen this morning. I don't know why... as the forecast has been for snow here. I have been checking carefully as we have a funeral to go to on Monday over an hour away. Luckily it seems that it is now unlikely to be a problem. If it is we will probably get the train - if they are running.

thebeautifulsky · 14/02/2026 09:44

Morning all!

I'm sat with a coffee looking out into the garden. It's a beautiful frosty, sunny morning here (SW). I did catch a glimpse of myself in the bright sunlight and wondered where all the wrinkles have come from! Waiting for DH to get ready so we can go for a walk along the beach before shopping for lamp shades and a large indoor plant. I've somehow managed to kill the one we've had for a few years!

A bit of batch cooking when we get home. I've got the DGC more than usual next week so need to have something quick to give them. Toddlers do not like waiting it seems!

We'll make something nice for dinner and watch TV after scrolling through for what seems like hours until we find something we both want to watch!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 14/02/2026 09:48

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Happy Valentine’s Day! We actually have blue skies & sunshine here in Cornwall! So definitely a walk later. DH & I are going out for lunch at a restaurant on the beach. Never been but only heard good things. I need to try on some dresses. I’ve just taken DD17 to the station & dropped off some bags of stuff at the charity shop. Already done some laundry & there’s a fair bit of handwashing to do. Dishwasher needs unloading & stacking. I haven’t had any brekkie so might have a piece of toast & a 2nd cuppa ( DH brought me one in bed earlier along with Lindt white truffles & a card. I got a dozen red roses last night). I have a fair few charity shop finds to post on Vinted. Need to take the Asda meal deal that I bought yesterday over to DM & DF. Should have gone earlier in the week as there were no steaks, no wine & not much choice of desserts but I got everything they had asked for except the puds. Amazing for £12. Tea will be something light as we’re eating out at lunchtime . I quite fancy soup. We’ll probably watch a film tonight & I might pick up a bottle of AF fizz. DH bought some zero Peroni yesterday. Oh & at some point I have to do boring staff training which is completely irrelevant to my post! Have a lovely day folks ☀️☀️☀️

FamingolosForDays · 14/02/2026 10:05

Morning all.

DC are at their dads for a few days. I woke up every 2 hours last night so although I went to sleep early I didn't have a great night.
Just lazing in bed at the moment battling with bloody Onestream to sort their shite out. Its been a year of trouble with them!

Going to get up and make tea and a bacon sandwich and get back into bed I think. Although the sun is finally shining here so I should probably use the opportunity to pull out the dead stuff in the garden.

Red wine in front of the rugby later for me and fajitas for tea I think. Or burritos, I can't decide yet.
Off to see a friend and her baby tomorrow, I am absolutely broke though so haven't got a gift. Will need to raid the present box and find something suitable. I am not crafty and very untalented in any kind of making-department so what I'll do if I can't find something I don't know!

Shadowhawk · 14/02/2026 10:13

Morning all,

It s a beautiful sunny frosty morning in Scotland. Mr Shadowhawk has booked us a late lunch/early tea at one of my favourite restaurants as he had a rare weekend off. It’s so lovely to see the sun today after weeks of dark miserable weather! We’re going to do a long dog walk in the sunshine, home to do a few bits of housework then head out around 3 for a couple of glasses of wine before the restaurant booking.

ShetlandishMum · 14/02/2026 10:19

Our youngest and I are going to visit one of my friends at 2pm for tea.

And the sun is shining!

The youngest is just about to finish math and music practise but we have a few hours before leaving the house.

I'm thinking of sitting on the couch relaxing with a book and a cup of tea. Don't bother getting dressed.

We should buy a pan for the pancake race tomorrow. Hmm.

frozendaisy · 14/02/2026 10:20

Morning morning
We have a new washing machine - hold back the excitement, the novelty of pushing one button and not having to do an extra spin and it not sounding like a helicopter landing has already worn off but did get the eldest to remove transport bolts and help plumb it in (hashtag life lessons)!

Youngster has finally finished all his drama performances, doesn’t mean he doesn’t need lifts to go see other performances with friends, his bike is in a garden somewhere near school and we need to collect it as it needs looking at on Monday, so that needs fitting in, as well as collecting additional teen and dropping off youngster to house party something not sure what.

So ferrying teenagers around basically. It’s been a good but chaotic week and it’s a fun but busy weekend.

I got chicken legs for dinner, because it’s easy, marinate in KFC spices and natural yogurt, throw breadcrumbs over them 10 minutes before they are done.

Still another half hour with a coffee first.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 14/02/2026 10:24

Good morning everyone. Lovely bright sunny morning here in NI, but freezing. DH brought me up some tea and a lemsip this morning as I’m loaded with the cold. I got up, tided downstairs, cleaned the fire out ready to be lit again and put DS clothes from his scouts hike last night in the wash. Back into bed for tea and toast and DH brought me a lovely card, gin and slippers for valentine’s. Getting my eyebrows done at lunch. Will bring youngest DS with me and then do some visiting and the food shop. DS12 and DS8 will stay home with DH and probably go out and play on their bikes. Takeaway for dinner tonight. We can’t decide between Indian or Chinese. Have a lovely Saturday everyone!

Rainbow1235 · 14/02/2026 10:42

Good morning lucysmam and to u all. I’m sat having a cuppa as not long got up as I’m having trouble sleeping at night but seem to go in a deep sleep around 6 . Strange . Hedgehogsaremyjam · 14/02/2026 11:05

Good Morning all

Sunny but very chilly today on the south coast. I feel like I should be getting outside but I was out last night and feeling tired so instead I am currently in the warm catching up on the Winter Olympics.

Rugby later and lots more Olympics while I catch up on a few house bits. Will decide what's for dinner when I walk to the little local supermarket.

Have a good day all

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 14/02/2026 11:23

Abandoned children with their grandad who has a fun weekend of swimming planned followed by some baking with my step mum, probably followed by staying up late and eating something sugary.

We swapped presents, I got him a some cat related stuff and a replica of a necklace he used to have that he lost in 2020 (took ages to find, I’ve been looking since 2020). He got me a thermal. I thought it was a bit weird but thanked him. “Are you not gonna ask why I brought you that?” “Because I’m always cold?” “No we are going to the highlands that’s the present.” So we are going to the highlands which is super exciting! And I don’t have to drive so I’m probably gonna have a pint with lunch when we stop on the way!

dontforgetme · 14/02/2026 11:23

Good Morning @lucysmam and all!

Sunny here too, although cold. The sun blaring through my kitchen doors highlighted how many little hand prints were on them so I have given them a clean. One good thing about winter.. I don’t notice the marks!! On a cleaning roll now so giving my house a good blitz, dp taking ds out on his scooter shortly so I can mop the floors. Then will wash my hair and get ready for the pub this afternoon, meeting family and they will be coming back to ours to watch our team although I have a horrible feeling after how we played in the week! Think we’re going to order an Indian. It’s half term and I am bloody ecstatic!

Have lovely Saturdays all.

zingally · 14/02/2026 11:27

Up with the larks after a restless night to de-ice the car and head to Asda.
Loads of good yellow stickers today. Stocked up on 3 packs of the fresh cheesy mash, which is a family favourite, plus a few packs of fishcakes. Most has gone straight to the freezer, but also that's dinner sorted for tonight.

Heading off shortly to a 12:30 showing at the cinema for the new Wuthering Heights film. Seems like mixed reviews, but looked suitably bonkers from what I saw of the trailer. I had something of a sexual awakening to the ITV Tom Hardy version in the 00s, so the story has always had a special place in my heart. ;)

Making the most of today off as tomorrow starts a 6-day working week.

Tangerinesattack · 14/02/2026 12:18

Morning all. Feeling a bit weary today after our evening return from Paris - had a great time but it's lovely to be home with DH and the cats, one of whom is purring up a storm beside me -not DH! Nice but freezing here so not many plans to do much. We don't really do Valentine's here - a nice dinner but we aim for that every weekend!

DH is getting the shopping for the week then we'll put a pork joint on to marinate for dinner (pork pibil). He was most excited to show me the new washing machine he'd bought and installed while I was away. Our old one started billowing smoke 2 weekends ago! New one has a lovely big drum and many innovative settings which will mostly be ignored. So enjoying some novelty laundering is on the cards. There's some admin chores needing done and unpacking / house resetting. DS is currently making firelighters so he might be planning some bushcraft adventure in the nearby woods.

Later, I'm planning a hot bath, some telly and maybe a glass of wine. Much needed chill and reset. Lovely! Have a good day everyone.

Giggorata · 14/02/2026 12:49

Good day lucysmam and all.
Sunny and cold today, windscreens were iced up. I chanced some washing on the line but don't know if it will dry much.
I am just about to do brunch (eggs, bacon, black pudding and mushrooms) and for dinner I will curry the leftover roast chicken with veggies.

We have no plans today; we have discussed going out for a drive, like proper old people, but I don't think either of us can be bothered, really.

I might fiddle about with my fake fireplace/door in the shop room. I have taken the carved top off the back of an old broken chair, which will fit exactly along the top of the “fire basket” and look a lot better than the weird little knobs that are currently in place.

Thislittlekitten · 14/02/2026 15:10

Afternoon all

Late to you today. We are away for a long weekend. Had a busy morning out for breakfast, lots of walking and site seeing. Lunch and then back to hotel for a bit with some pastry’s. Food featuring heavily here!

It’s cold but lovey walking around. Tonight’s plan are more walking about and a nice tea. Lots of walking planned for tomorrow.

Zippedydodah · 14/02/2026 16:58

Good afternoon everyone, just finished a 5 hour online art lesson, tidied up my craft room and rearranged the materials (of which I have far, far too much), walked the dogs and about to have a cup of tea.
i am pooped! It’s hard work trying to stay focused.
