Have you ever received and anonymous valentines card?

Just lighthearted and my own curiosity really. Has anyone else ever recieved an anonymous valentines card? Did you find out who it was, did it lead you to a relationship or messy rejection?
I recieved an anonymous valentines card when I was 13. I ummed and ahhed about who it could be from and deduced it was someone who knew me quite well cos it had a cat wearing a feather boa on the front which is very me kind of thing and my name was spelled correctly. The post mark was London and I couldn't think of anyone I knew in London. To this day I still have no clue who sent it to me so nothing came of it.
Anyone else?

Yes. I was seeing someone casually at the time so I thought it had to be him, albeit very out of character. It wasn't. I did find out, it was someone I worked with. He was much younger. It was quite embarrassing really!

Got some flowers once at uni, I was excited because I thought they might be from someone I liked but no, someone I was completely indifferent too, embarrassment all round .

I received a single red rose years ago sent to my workplace. Never found out who it was from.

I got a card, rose and chocs to my work place not from my husband! The card was really explicit too. Tbh it grossed me out and I found it quite embarrassing. But I never found out who it was I assume some sort of joke.

I did many years ago at Uni with a made up poem about me, it was really funny and clever. I had to do a bit of detective work to find out who sent it. I knew the guy, friend of friend and we had socialised a few times. I liked him as a person but wasn't into him and felt a bit guilty about that but such is life. He did a brave and funny thing and I admired him for it.

I have received one about 30 years ago.
I was so happy as I thought it was from someone I fancied like mad!
It turned out to be from someone who was double of my age, a handyman who worked in my rented flat.
It turned into stalking later on.

Yes to anonymous cards. Also had an anonymous bouquet of red roses on my birthday once.

I got one from my dad when I was 12! He felt sorry for me because I’d never had one.
I was so excited to think I had a secret admirer and was gutted that it was my own father!

he died 30 years ago and I’d give anything to have one now from him.

This will be my daughter in ten years. It was me. 😂

Yes. Early 20's and was sent flowers and a card.

I had a plutonic dance partner and we were driving to lessons when I was complaining about the flowers. I'd had an obsessed weirdo from school who'd call every birthday and it bordered on harassment how much he wanted to date me. Turned out the flowers were from my dance partner! We dated for 6mths before it all fizzled.

AddictedToBooks · 02/03/2026 17:28

Yes I did a few years ago - handposted through my letterbox and handwritten.
Definitely wasn't my husband though as we were going through a really bad patch at the time and it wasn't his handwriting.
Never found out who it was.

Every year for the last 40 years! Me and my other half always sign Valentine's cards with a large ? ..... (yes, I know we know, but technically it's anonymous 🤣).
