Is poetry a dying art?

There was a young fellow called Nigel
Who was stung on the nose by a wasp.
When asked "Did it hurt?"
He said "No, not at all.
It can do it again if it likes."

Mary had a little lamb
She tied it to a pylon
Ten thousand volts shot up his bum
and turned his wool to nylon

I don't know. I hope not though.

Poetry lives on
In countless classrooms today
Haikus will be formed

I wish I were a little egg
As rotten as could be,
A-sitting in a little nest
High up in a tree.
And if you chanced to pass beneath the tree,
I'd up and burst myself and cover thee with me.
