Looking for some inspiration for DM’s upcoming 80th birthday. Has anyone got any nice ideas they could share? I was thinking of something like afternoon tea at the ritz but would love some ideas. Thanks so much

I also thought of taking her on the Belmont Express, it looks lovely and would be something special

Have done the day out on Belmond Express, absolutely lovely
Also tea at the Ritz/Claridges/Fortnums; theatre show with tickets in a box; day trip to Northern Lights; dinner at Corinthia or Hand & Flowers (both Tom Kerridge); Murano/Angela Hartnett; Restaurant Gordon Ramsay/ was Clare Smyth at the time

Thanks @Defiantly41good to know the Belmond was a lovely experience. I was also looking at Le Manoir but that is closed for refurbishment.

We have a small group in our family- aunties/cousins- who she is very close to who get together as much as we can and I think she might like a night away with them so we can all catch up properly.

We had a very big loss in our family last year so I want to plan a few special things for her but nothing too overwhelming

My Mun’s 80 this summer & we’re a long time Le Manoir “special occasion” guests, I’d always assumed this is what we’d do - so am also looking for new ideas. Belmond train is ok, but terribly expensive for what you actually get.

Had afternoon tea at the Ritz for my 40th - it's absolutely gorgeous 💝

Edited

I’ve been trying to think of anywhere similar to Le Manoir but am stumped

Think I will definitely arrange this. I’ve taken parents to afternoon tea at the Corinthia which they loved but the Ritz feels more fitting for a special occasion

The Ritz would be my choice too. Last family celeb was for DD2s 21st.

What does your mum want to do?

She hasn’t really said. She’s had a very difficult year losing my Dsis so it won’t be something she’s given any thought to. I know that a party would be too overwhelming and difficult for her but she has a big family who she is very close to and who she loves spending time with, as well as her sisters and their daughters so I think a few small celebrations would be fitting.

I recently took family to The Savoy Theatre to see Paddington as a matinee and then to The Savoy for their afternoon tea which was gorgeous
