Fainted this morning and still don’t feel right

I fainted this morning while I was at the doctors just after having my blood taken. I have never fainted before, but it was almost 6 hours ago and I feel extremely rough still. I still feel lightheaded and groggy and really fatigued. Is this normal?

I fainted on monday it took 36 hours for me to feel right. Not sure how normal it is.

Possible underlying issue for you both get checked or NHS 101 get advice.👍

Pepperedpickles · 11/02/2026 19:10

Ring 111 for advice.

This happened while you were AT the docs, did they say or do anything for you at the time?

99pwithaflake · 11/02/2026 19:30

No, not normal. What were your blood tests for?

He checked my vitals while I was on the floor but they were all normal. They gave me water and waited for me to feel better and someone came to pick me up

I have had extreme fatigue for over a week and recently started feeling light headed, dizzy and weak. Went to the doctors and I think because I was always feeling off, the blood test tipped me over the edge

I always feel awful after fainting for at least a day. Its like it takes my body a long time to reset. Sleep helps. Obviously if you feel worse etc given you don't know cause then ring 111 but a simple faint can make you feel horrible for a good while.

SirQuintus · 11/02/2026 20:15

You need medical advice, the blood tests results should show if you have an issue. Do check that you are drinking enough water as this can sometimes be a cause of feeling unwell.

Blueyrocks · 11/02/2026 20:19

I faint quite a lot and this is what happens to me - I feel sick and really tired and weak for the rest of the day. It tends to take a night's sleep before I feel myself again. Longer if I'm also not well in another way.

samlovesdilys · 11/02/2026 20:30

Definitely agree with feeling rough for the rest of the day at least, if not a couple. I also find done chocolate or similar helps, the traditional cup of sweet tea etc. but get the GP to do a really thorough check of you, BP sitting and standing, heart rate etc.

mathanxiety · 11/02/2026 20:44

Of your doctor wasn't checking for anemia, maybe go and get that checked, or ask for anemia to be included in the lab order.

Littleanchor · 11/02/2026 21:02

Thanks everyone. The doctor said as my symptoms are so non specific, he is going to check for lots of things on the blood tests and will ring me tomorrow. If he comes back to say everything looks normal, I’m not too sure what to do. I would like to ask for further tests but I don’t know what we would be testing for. I just know I can’t keep feeling like this. I have bad bouts of fatigue on and off and usually it passes after about a week or so. But this time it’s particularly bad with more symptoms and I have been practically bed bound all week. I do have a heart defect(an ASD), but he said that that would not cause these symptoms

If you have a heart issue and have fainted they really need to be giving you an ecg. If you haven’t had this after your fainting incident please ask for one.

Objectrelations · 11/02/2026 23:09

Atrial Septal Defect?

What would this show? My ECG always comes back abnormal because of my heart defect. He is calling me back today with my blood results so I will mention it. But is there something specific it would show?

Repeating what I said above - do keep a check on your fluid intake and that you are drinking enough water.

BeeHive909 · 12/02/2026 15:43

I’m a regular fainter sadly and it does take a while to feel normal again sometimes. Keep your fluid levels up and rest.
