any decent alternative to a Ring doorbell

MangoTango24 · 10/02/2026 21:31

My Ring doorbell has given up the ghost.
I need to replace it but I've seen lots of other types lately in our neighbourhood. Are there any good ones? There are so many to choose from on Amazon; I dont want to end up buying something cheaper that doesnt actually work but at the same time I know Ring Doorbell is sort of like saying Hoover when you mean vacuum cleaner.
Any thoughts welcome thank you!!

Blink works brilliant for our needs. We have internal external and door cameras

TAPO doorbell is still going two years later..

We have a Eufy which we really like.

We have Eufy. My husband picked it up on a deal at costco. The camera is pretty good, anybody approaching the gate flashes up on my husbands phone. We don't use the talk function much.

Do these have a monthly charge? Ring is £4.99

We have a pyronix one. We had it professionally installed (though it’s not too complicated to do it yourself I don’t think). It uses control plus which is free so no subscription needed 👏

MangoTango24 · 10/02/2026 22:04

If I didnt have to use a subscription that would be ideal or do they all come with a subscription?

Eufy. No subscription

ItsPoochie · 10/02/2026 22:13

I’ve got a non doorbell eufy camera and it’s fantastic. You can swivel it on your phone, it saves the footage, there’s no subscription, you can get notifications.

Robina3000 · 10/02/2026 22:17

Eufy here too, no subscription, we switched from Ring years ago and no regrets

CoodleMoodle · 10/02/2026 22:19

We have a Blink doorbell with a sync module box. No subscription required and it works perfectly.

skippy67 · 10/02/2026 22:22

Eufy.

We have a reolink one- no subscription but I've also read on here about the eufy ones.
I have no idea why you'd pay a monthly subscription for a doorbell? What does that give you?
