Anyone up? Unbearable sinus pain

Had a flu type bug two weeks ago followed by a cold and since the weekend have had unbearable sinus pain. I was managing with painkillers but I’ve had ibuprofen, paracetamol and codeine and they’re not touching the pain in my jaw, teeth and cheeks. It feels like my face is pulsing with the pain! I’ve been steaming, nasal rinsing, taking decongestant and nothing is helping…

Did you try hanging your head off the side of the bed?

No I have never heard of that remedy! I’ve been taking Sudafed, cold and flu tablets and saline nasal spray. They don’t do anything for the pain in my face.

Give it a try because it can sometimes relieve some of the pressure and help drain the sinuses temporarily.

I always preferred actifed tablets to sudafed but if nothing you're trying is helping you then it might be an infection

You need antibiotics asap x

I have a doctors appointment first thing for my 6 week check as I’ve just had a baby so going to mention it. I have had sinus pain before but never this unbearable, I can’t eat because my jaw and teeth hurt so much! Ironically my baby is sleeping like an angel and has been since 10pm, typical!

Definitely sounds like a sinus infection, or a friend of mine had unbearable sinus pain and it turned out to be something to do with their wisdom tooth.

I have trigeminal neuralgia.

It sounds like the pain I experience.

The last time I had an attack I took steroids, antivirals and antibiotics as I suspected I had shingles occurring inside the facial nerve.

It actually worked. Rather than have months or years of pain (and exist on some really powerful pain killers), I’m pretty much pain free.

It’s possible the virus damaged your facial nerves. You need to get a full blood panel and check your vitamin B levels.

Poor you. The inflammation will be the worst part, you could try a cold pack.
