Alton towers tips

Is Alton Towers usually very busy opening weekend? Is it a bad time to go eg is it possible a lot of rides will still be closed? I believe last year opening weekend was a shambles. Has anyone got a tips? It’s our first time going with teens.

I went one year for my birthday in May. It was a Tuesday and very quiet, but everything was open 😁. Sadly I discovered that when you get older you can't take the very exciting rides any more - I did 3 and felt so sick I had to stick to the gentler ones 😢
However I have no idea about the opening weekend - sorry.

The days of faking an illness to get to front of queue are almost over, dust off that walking stick and give them your best smile

I would avoid the opening weekend, it's busy and not everything is up and running. Id leave it a few weeks..try and do a weekday if you can..when it's busy the queues are ridiculous and you can barely get on 5 rides, unless you invest in fast track passes, which for a family would easily be hundreds of pounds.

Thanks for your reply. I know I used to love rollercoasters not sure what I’m going to be like at this age now though!

Have you seen the Merlin offer? Buy an oversight stay in the hotel, and get free annual passes. It’s such a good deal.

Thanks Ronald that’s good to know but not what I wanted to hear. I had thought it would be quietish but I believe it’s after dark too so prob very busy. Flying over from
Ireland though so might just have to suck it up as too much cost to change flights.
