Is this a fb marketplace scam?

DH and I have been looking for an item which usually costs around £500 secondhand. There’s one listed on fb marketplace for much cheaper- £200. It just seems too good to be true but where’s the scam ?? If we go and pick it up then surely we’ll get to see it and won’t pay until we have the item.
Other things which are a bit suss are the fact the seller has only been on fb since 2026. But she’s given us an address to go and see it.
I feel like it’s a scam but not sure how. Any ideas or is it worth a punt? Thanks

Oo sounds scammy yes, but are you going to pick it up and pay cash??

I put an item on FB not realising it’s actual value, piece of furniture for a parent. I got so much interest in it and genuine buyers who said I was selling it too cheap. I didn’t increase my price but the person who bought it gave me more money for it as they knew the value. However there are scammers so be careful!

If you’re able to go and view it and it’s not too far (in case it turns out to be a dud address) then go view it and only pay on collection.

The scams I know on Facebook are the ones where they send you a link to pay. Absolutely don’t do any of that.

Thanks all. So far, we’re booked to collect it on Friday. Saying that, it’s such a good deal that if it’s genuine, I’m sure someone will beat us to it.
I did a bit of googling and the most likely scam is they’ll start asking us for a deposit or for a transfer so obviously if that happens we’ll decline.
If we somehow manage to get this item, I will update. I’d estimate current chances at about 1% 😁

Well I just went back on to check and ALL her messages have disappeared from the thread so it was definitely a scam!
