So if your cat's tail went in your tea...

...would you still drink it?

If the circumstances were that you were stuck on the sofa beneath two cats, one of whom rarely gets lap-time as the other pushes her off, your teen had made you a tea in a break from revising for mocks and had now gone back upstairs, and the tail only went in for a few seconds. In those circumstances would you drink it? Asking for a friend...

Yes, and I’d suck the end of his tail to make sure I didn’t lose a single drop.

Ya beat me to the punch there choccie. Cats taste so much better with tea.

Iliketulips · 08/02/2026 18:57

One thing is for sure, I wouldn't be removing a lap cat for a fresh drink.

intrepidpanda · 08/02/2026 19:41

No

This reminds me of a time that I went to cat/ house sit for a friend whilst she went away. I love my friend, she is a kind lady but her house isn’t very clean. I spent a few hours cleaning it and then went to make a cup of tea, but there was only 1 tea bag left. Just sat down with my tea absolutely knackered and watched a bloody flea jump in it! It was there for all of a second before I picked it out. Spent a minute deciding if I should just drink it since there were no other tea bags! Needless to say I drank it, wasn’t my finest hour but I was gasping.

SunnyWarrington · 09/02/2026 11:39

@Snozzlemaid I don’t … but will probably now spend the next hour trying to work it out!

SardinesOnButteredToast · 16/02/2026 19:53

Not only would I drink the tea, I'd suck the cat's tail like a straw. No fucker's taking MY tea.

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 16/02/2026 20:36

Wouldn’t bother me .

FeelingFineNow · 16/02/2026 21:39

Well I’m laying in bed and my very fluffy Maine coone is about three inches from my face. About every thirty seconds I stop scrolling to kiss her probably inhaling more than a few hairs, so yes I definitely would. Tonight I have also drank a glass of milk after I caught her lapping at it. I’m sure I will live 😀

Really, it would not bother me. Used to have a JRT who was a sod for drinking out of cups, tea, coffee, milk, anything would do. I would warn people not to leave cups on the floor etc. many times i would come down to find her sat on the coffee table with an innocent look on her guilty face so probably have drunk quite a few cups of brew 2nd hand!

My GSD (big) pup insists on contact sleeping - she was abused and had NO love or fuss at all.
I fear to think what fur I inhale through the night!.

I absolutely don’t care, she brings me joy all day every day, and comfort and cuddles through the night. She’s so happy about everything , jumps for joy when she’s fed (very underweight when we had her) then comes to tell me all about it, races round when it’s walk time, talks to me, follows me everywhere with a daft look and a wagging tail, and watches tv when I do!

I love her to the Moon and beyond.

OriginalSkang · 19/02/2026 12:07

No, my cats are both disgusting. One came home a while ago with diarrhoea on her back

JustAboutMuddlingThrough · 19/02/2026 14:53

I would, but then again I used to share a few licks of an ice cream with my late DCat, and would more often than not wake up with his arse near or a paw in my mouth. My Sisters DCat sat in my cereal and I still ate it. I’d much rather eat or drink something a cat had licked, nibbled, drank, dunked a body part in something than eat something a little snotty kid has touched.

Henry8thHoover · 19/02/2026 15:17

Yes.
I've also eaten food that a cat has nibbled or licked, many times.
One of my cats jumped in a bowl of lasagne when he was a kitten, I ate that too.

CarlStoleMyUnderpants · 19/02/2026 15:41

You're all going to think me terrible. I eat a large pot of yogurt and share it with my 5 cats. They lick from the spoon.

UrbanFan · 19/02/2026 15:43

yes i would drink it. My cat is perfect from the top of his nose to the tip of his tail.

cantankerousoldcrone · 19/02/2026 15:55

I certainly would

mrsgilfeathers · 19/02/2026 16:18

No…🤢

Depends on how much of the tail and whether it was tip or arse end.

Is it a removable tail? Just on with Velcro?
