So if your cat's tail went in your tea...

...would you still drink it?

If the circumstances were that you were stuck on the sofa beneath two cats, one of whom rarely gets lap-time as the other pushes her off, your teen had made you a tea in a break from revising for mocks and had now gone back upstairs, and the tail only went in for a few seconds. In those circumstances would you drink it? Asking for a friend...

My puppies tail went in my Ready Brek last Sunday… no issue, she climbs all over me 24/7 normally so🤷‍♀️

Her tail did go crusty til I could get her to sit long enough for me to brush it all out!

Which is why I always wash my hands and don’t drink tea that has had a shitty tail or shitty tongue dipped in it.

But you touch things in public? Door handles, shopping trolleys, plates handled by staff in restaurants, shake hands with people, touch things a child has touched? Shit particles on all of those. I know my animals are disease free. You cannot say the same for the general public!

Well it's quite easy if the cup is close to their arse and they stand up to stretch e.g.

No its not possible which is why I questioned the logistics

A cat would give it a try though

I don’t touch my food before washing or sanitising my hands, so unless the cats tail had been sanitised immediately before dunking in my tea, I would make a new cup of tea

Tonissister · 08/02/2026 17:26

I would and have.

HattieJ2 · 08/02/2026 17:26

I would if it was only hair

not if it had dags on

swapsicles · 08/02/2026 17:34

Yep, it's also surprising how many cat hairs find their way into my food despite them rarely going into the kitchen let alone on the worktops. When I'm around anyway 😂

Love your username. My cat is called Snozzle, and I am absolutely his maid! And yes, I would still drink the tea 😺

Wow. Love this coincidence!
My user name is a reference to where I live. If you know, you know 😁

TheMorgenmuffel · 08/02/2026 18:03

Oh yes. I have famously low standards.

TimeForATerf · 08/02/2026 18:06

Oh yes, as someone who has has cats, dogs and horses in their life for every one of my 59 years, a paw sneaking something off my plate, horse snot on my coat sleeve, a labrador lick of my face or a sneaky cat lick of the butter when I’m cooking is no big deal.

Sorry if it offends.

TheMoanerLisa · 08/02/2026 18:16

I would have probably panicked first. Convinced myself that I had caused my little darling to have third degree burns to her tail and that I was an awful mother. Gone and got a cold flannel to clean and cool down her tail and made sure there was no significant damage. Then I would have settled back down with her and continued to drink my, by now, stone cold cuppa.

sanityisamyth · 08/02/2026 18:16

Absolutely no way. Revolting animals.

Blueartichoke · 08/02/2026 18:22

I would, my cat is an indoor cat but with two dogs and horses it’s not unusual to find animal hair in meals and drinks!

Belladog1 · 08/02/2026 18:33

I dropped half a delicious biscuit on the floor yesterday. My dog grabbed it. I grabbed it back and ate it.

Cricketashes · 08/02/2026 18:36

This is absolutely foul. I'm shocked that people think this is ok.

Jadzya · 08/02/2026 18:37

I've done that yeah.

ArtesianWater · 08/02/2026 18:39

Cats = good. Tea = good. So, yes.

Orange cat, by any chance?

lol yes

Many years ago, one of my rescue dogs stole the teeny chicken breast off my teeny plate of food (I was on a diet!) I yelled at her and she dropped it. I still ate it 🤣 I haven’t been ill for decades. I’m convinced that regular germs help!

ArtesianWater · 08/02/2026 18:40

I once fished a fly out of my glass of wine on a date and then drank it anyway. Date said it made me more attractive.

I haven't been ill in forever either.

I would normally have let him eat it, but it was a particularly delicious biscuit 😋

Ha! In a fancy restaurant years ago, the sommelier poured the last of our expensive bottle of wine and a fly fell out. DH just picked up his spoon to flick it out 🤣🤣 Sommelier was horrified, the entire table (including the cloth!) was cleared and a fresh bottle of wine was immediately produced by the restaurant. We really didn’t care, it happens!

borisjohnsonsliedetector · 08/02/2026 18:45

At least the cats tail didnt soak the tea up like a sponge and you were slurping the tea from their tail........

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 08/02/2026 18:47

It wouldn't worry me tbh.

SidekickSylvia · 08/02/2026 18:51

I like cats, but no I wouldn't have been able to drink it.
