Weird private messages

Is anyone else getting weird private messages tonight or just me?
Like they were meant to be for someone else

Just didn't know if it was a troll

What do the messages say? Who are they from ?

gamerchick · 07/02/2026 20:12

You can report them if they're weird. I usually just get abuse or spammy types and have been known to report. I rarely check them now and when I do they've been deleted already. I'm assuming they're adverts of some sort

purpleme12 · 07/02/2026 20:13

When I do a search on username it doesn't appear which is weird

Report them OP, they are probably from a bot.

BillieWiper · 07/02/2026 21:27

Out of interest, what did they say? Roughly?

It could've been them mistyping someone else's username. But unlikely.

I wonder what the scammers want to try and achieve. I guess steal something somehow.

I've had ones where poster just puts 'hi' which I ignore. Also where they say they liked my recent post. I replied to that saying 'which one?' obviously no reply.

purpleme12 · 07/02/2026 21:40

Sent about 8 messages in the space of 2 hours roughly

Talking as if the user knew who I was (although clearly if it is genuine it's meant for someone else) and saying why the user reported me to the police and I think the person was trying to say that I had children who were harassing her?
Although it went into more detail than that. I've never had messages like that on here so it confused me

Yeah I've had those before. Which I just ignore and they don't seem genuine.

But these were just so weird

She was ranting about the police and kids etc. it literally must be for someone else. But if it's threatening or nasty then block it and report user to MNHQ as they may ban them.

Sounds weird that's for sure.

Yep the neighbours who were harassing us who we'd reported the police.
They reported us in retaliation.
They didn't get anywhere with it cos they were actually the ones in the wrong but it just added to the harassment. And they reported my child (age 8 at the time) claiming she was harassing them (fyi no she wasn't they were just truly awful people)

My situation was over a while ago.
And none of the contents of your messages were anything like us or my situation or the people involved.
If your messages are genuine then you must be under the impression I'm someone else.
