Shared parental leave in Army Reserves

Posted this elsewhere, but got no response, so trying here.

Does anyone know what the deal is with shared parental leave when in the army reserves please? It's not for me, it's for my partner. I guess it's effectively a second job, so is he allowed to do a reserves weekend when currently on shared parental leave from his primary job? Does the reserves offer shared parental leave and/or pay?

Thanks

Get your partner to ask his CO.

Reserves weekend training are mostly voluntary - unless an annual test of some sort - many people have to miss it for work, so it's up to him really if he attends.

It's more volunteering than a second job.

Shared Parental Leave: Reservists may be eligible for Shared Parental Leave if they meet specific criteria, such as working 26 weeks in the 66 weeks prior to the birth/adoption, and the primary adopter/mother reduces their leave.

He gets paid for it and an annual bounty, so I don't think it's really volunteering.

@Ohfuckrucksack where did you read that please? I can do a bit more reading.

I'm just looking for him to give it up for a while and don't want him to use the pay as an excuse not to. I need him around to help!
