Creative places to place a tumble dryer?

Have you successfully put a tumble dryer somewhere unique in your home that isn't the garage? If so, I would love to hear it, looking for ideas that won't require renovating a space.

Bumping. Anyone have one in the storage bedroom or randomly in a hall way?

I had one in my big bathroom when I lived alone!

PurpleLovecats · 07/02/2026 00:28

Ours is in the downstairs bedroom that’s no longer used

RedSpottyMushrooms · 07/02/2026 00:32

Idk if it's unique exactly, but our washer and drier are in cupboards off the hallway.

TheSmallAssassin · 07/02/2026 00:33

We had ours in the dining room for a bit, but now it's stacked on top of the washing machine.

i Once had one in a bedroom and just stuck the pipe out the top window when I used it. Another time I had one under the stairs and used a condenser box with it.

In the bedroom as a bedside table between bed and window

Under stairs cupboard

Husband made a shelf like thing and it's on top of the washing machine.

In the downstairs bathroom that is only used as a back up loo as its always cold. We used a stacking kit to put the tumble dryer over the washing machine. Was pleasantly surprised how well the set up has worked.

Ww had ours in the ensuite in our old house

Mines under the dining table in the kitchen.

Ours is in a cupboard in the downstairs shower room, on top of the washing machine.

In our last house it was under the stairs.

I think that they pump out quite a lot of tiny particles/ dust. Mine is fairly high spec but I don’t think it makes for good air quality so tend to shut behind doors in winter and open kitchen doors in summer. Would suggest either a well ventilated room or a cupboard so you can shut the door on it.

What? Don't shut your working tumble drier behind doors! A really bad idea.

Ours is in our spare room. It has a tank, so isn't 'plumbed' in.

Mine is just in my bedroom. Nowhere else it could go and it's very useful so Im not too bothered about it being in a random place.

cleaningthebog · 07/02/2026 12:48

Our small, long, slim laundry room with washing machine and dryer has the bath and overbath shower in there too. Also has a tall broom cupboard. Amazing what can be filled in to a small place with a bit of imagination. Don't have a sink in the laundry room though.

We had a washer dryer and it was shit. Kitchen had just been refurbished so we cldnt change anything. We had a box room upstairs (no window). We had it in there. It wasn’t a great idea as it wasn’t ventilated. We left the room door open and tried to let air in/out. It worked though as it was like that for about 6/7yrs with no issues. When we moved house the kitchen was old and we planned to redo it. Again no where for a dryer. We had it upstairs in a spare room (with a window this time) it was about 2yrs before we got round to doing the kitchen this time. We finally have a utility room and it’s in there and is ventilated to outside now 😀 so much better having it next to the washing machine too.

I moved the washing machine into a little nook in the out side loo. Had the dryer in my kitchen.

UnaOfStormhold · 07/02/2026 13:23

We had a top opening one that went into a blind corner in the kitchen.

anotheranonanon · 07/02/2026 13:24

In my old house we had a cupboard jn the hall with washing machine and tumble dryer stacked. It was great.

WelcometomyUnderworld · 07/02/2026 13:26

Mine’s in our en suite bathroom, with the washing machine.

Front porch here. Lives with a dark fleece thrown over it with a plant on top. There is a small high window at the side for the hose so it’s always ready to use. Visitors don’t know it’s there unless it’s in use.

Is it? Builder designed it for us like that and it seems quite standard in our neighbourhood- Edwardian terraces. Otherwise I can smell the fluff if I am in the kitchen. New bosch series 6 condenser.
