Recommendations for a central London restaurant that’s quiet and uncrowded on a Saturday (I know, also serves unicorn…)

There will be six of us converging from various corners of london and further afield and I have been tasked with finding a restaurant for Saturday lunch.

Normally, our meetings are joyful events at places like Ottolenghi, Zedel. Sadly, this meeting will be a much more sombre lunch and we would like somewhere quiet we can eat together, talk together and take ages in a school others’ company.

It doesn’t have to be a smart restaurant. An unassuming museum café, a place that is normally for weekday diners, a church hall that serves baked potatoes would all be fine. Although good food would be a bonus, if possible.

Any recommendations?

Caravan in Fitzrovia might fit the bill. There are a few branches across London but this one was lovely and quiet in the mad week before Xmas when London was heaving.

It is very big so you could have the pick of a quiet corner table I am sure. Food usually pretty good - lots of options for dietary requirements as well.

That sounds good. Somewhere big that we can vanish in.

The pizza express at the royal festival hall is huge, they’re bound to have a quiet corner

Look for restaurants located in the city as opposed to West End as they will be quieter on the weekend such as St Paul's and surrounding areas, Barbican, Moorgate. There is a restaurant called Haz which could be suitable and is well priced.

I'm sorry for your troubles.

The Wilmington in Clerkenwell is normally quiet on a Saturday lunchtime. Ask for a table in the restaurant rather than the bar area.

The 10 cases has a tiny private dining room for six, you won’t pay any extra for it.

You can play your own music too.

No disturbances at all! It is in Covent Garden.
