Following on from a meeting with our work safeguarding lead today I thought I’d bring a horrifying gang culture which has reared its ugly head in the UK recently.
We have just under 10 active cases in our small NHS trust alone.
Gangs target teens/ preteens via Minecraft, Roblox and self harm chat groups and encourage them to film themselves abusing family members, including younger siblings, attacking strangers/ elderly people or self harming/ taking their own lives. The videos are then shared and the more extreme the better, the worse the abuse is the more kudos the gang gets. Two of the gang names mentioned were 765 and Black Jackal.
I thought it was worth making parents aware, especially as it gains access via such popular games. I hadn’t come across it until today.
