Where's the damn outrage? Epstein files

Manifestsleep · 04/02/2026 11:11

I don't understand. Why aren't we vilifying these people who, as prominent public figures, continued to maintain, fawn over and seek relationships with Jeffrey Epstein?

Every single news article purports "there is no suggestion of wrongdoing". Yes there fucking is! He was was a convicted paedophile, these people have a responsibility. They are complicit at the very least.

If Sarah Ferguson, Steve Bannon, Donald Trump et al. were seen to be cosying up to the Rotheram child sex abusers there would be absolute outrage and rightly so. This is no different. Why are we not shouting this from the rooftops.

I am also exceptionally perplexed as to why no-one else has been charged other than Ghislaine Maxwell and Epstein. Well, I'm not really surprised - it's because they are white men with power. It makes me sick.

Why has America had all these documents and done nothing?

Who can prosecute when it seems the whole rotten lot of them are compromised or if not, would be in danger of being 'disappeared'?

Where will they put everyone if the whole lot were prosecuted? Maybe on an island somewhere?

Why didn't they bother sorting the files out into 'quite bad including murder, torture and possibly cannibalism, and 'mere rape and blackmail', and 'Other'?

Why has the press been silent when oh hang on; who owned the press across the world and has probably got their own blackmail files? Oh. Right.

That's just the start of 'why'.

Because many of these people are wealthy and influential and could sue for libel. It is not a crime in itself to be friends with a criminal, however odious.

TallulahBetty · 04/02/2026 11:29

Are you quite mad? All I see is outrage! All over SM, and in real life.

Nothing will happen unless the US can pull their fingers out and prosecute every last one of them. Not going to happen, so all we can do here is look on in horror and call it out for what it is.

Stopbringingmicehome · 04/02/2026 11:32

what about the questions not being asked? Who is the current Epstein? Who are going to a different location for their peccadillos ? What sort of vetting is going to be introduced . Because this stuff won't have stopped because a few files have been released and Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has been earmarked as thd fall guy.

Preface wrongdoing with criminal then and call it out:

"There is no suggestion of criminal wrongdoing, however, the fact that Sarah Ferguson solicited a relationship with Jeffrey Epstein despite knowing he had faced charges of paedophillia, showcases her complicity".

I wonder if it’s because it is so fucking bizarre that (on Twitter especially) it’s hard to know what is real and what is fake.
I feel a bit like I’m waiting for a grown up to take control, make sense of it and make sure everyone involved gets what’s coming to them.

But also, there are people named in the files who have done nothing wrong. On the Newsagents podcast, they confirmed they appear on the files, because they bid for interviews with some of the survivors. Given the reach of Epstein, there are bound to be people in his orbit who didn’t do anything wrong.

What bothers me most is how the Mandelson story is playing out. We were obviously a bit perturbed that he was friends with the guy, and there was some damage to his reputation. But now that it turns out he had some very dubious, probably illegal financial dealings with him, we’re all supposed to be calling for his head on a spike. As if just being good friends with a known sex trafficker and prolific paedophile wasn’t something we should have been outraged at.

The main issue is, it is Trump’s DOJ and FBI who need to do the work. And they won’t because they fear what Trump will do.

Exactly...

SheilaFentiman · 04/02/2026 11:45

@BoredZelda agree re not all referenced have done wrong.

Re Mandelson - I'm not sure that the only outrage is now. He was sacked/made to resign as ambassador because of the friendship with a convicted paedophile. The political/financial emails potentially amount to a crime - misconduct in public office - so this has led to a police referral.

"There is no suggestion of criminal wrongdoing, however, the fact that Sarah Ferguson solicited a relationship with Jeffrey Epstein despite knowing he had faced charges of paedophillia, showcases her complicity".

That commentary might be in an editorial or opinion piece; it isn't going to be in a news article.

Oopsylazy · 04/02/2026 11:48

I’m guessing he was a very charismatic guy and they possibly didn’t think the accusations were true? Or didn’t care?

Do you think that everyone who is friendly with a paedophile is one themselves? Is that what you’re saying?

What is Sarah Ferguson supposed to have done?

You can’t prosecute someone for being friendly with a criminal. What do you expect to happen?

Sartre · 04/02/2026 11:52

I think it’s because lots has been redacted so it’s a little bit like- what are we even dealing with or looking at? For example, the photos of Andrew are creepy but what was he even doing? There’s no context at all, it genuinely looks like a first aid course.

Then you have Fergie fawning over Epstein a bit, Musk begging to go to his island but it’s unclear if he actually did. Bill Gates and Clinton were arguably hit the hardest but neither are huge figures in this country anymore. If this came out in the 90s or even 00s it would have been much bigger. I think it’s because the figures are old and not really important figures anymore, maybe Mandelson and Musk aside. Musk is the only one younger people would really know or care about though. Trump too but he is mentioned I think almost 50,000 times, none of it is outright damning though (because he’s had it redacted).

Yes he was hugely charismatic, TRIP US did a series on him which I recommend. He managed to become a private school teacher despite not even having an undergrad degree… He was a good looking guy too which helped him.

something2say · 04/02/2026 11:55

My take on it is -

Firstly, everyone is sick to the back teeth of corruption and abuse of power. It is literally everywhere. I wonder how many are really getting into it? And how many are just sick to death of it and have stopped reading and watching?

Secondly, for me as a fan of astrology, it has long been said that the 'old guard ways' need to fall, and will fall. Therefore I think these dreadful realities coming out are all indications of the 'old guard ways' that are crumbling and falling.

Celebrity - not automatically deserving, hide crimes and shameful behaviour
Rich and powerful - easily corrupted, enjoys it, partakes, denies and blame shifts

Let them all fall. We know it is true. We know what they get up to.

It used to be that money insulated wrong doing, but that has made us all sick at heart - and has been shown to be wrong and harmful. This is a good step.

We need to move away from money being the be all and end all. Art will take a long time I think, but these dreadful stories coming out are bricks being removed from an ever crumbling wall / way of life, and that is for the best and needs to happen.

Stuckinthemiddlewithyouuhoh · 04/02/2026 12:03

Surely the full full story will come out, it’s only a matter of time

Of course I didn't say that but we are not talking about "everyone". We are talking about people who have a responsibility to public life. That Steve Bannon can still have any clout and political influence is just wrong. By his continuation of that relationship and actually the nature of his communications, he has shown the type of person he is and where his judgement lies. I would feel the same about a school teacher who stuck by their spouse who was convicted of indecent images of children.

I would also expect that someone who has a their own charity with a responsibility for services and wellness to children , would turn around and say I can no longer have contact with this person. Would stand up and call out their behaviour, convictions and use that as a force for good rather than seeking their attention and affections.

Is there anyone clean enough at any level of authority to actually DO anything?

Well, Trump is calling for Americans to 'move on' from the Epstein files, apparently...

The Clintons are being made to testify at a Congressional committee. Mandelson is being investigated by police. Andrew M-W may yet be pressured into testifying. Fergie has lost her charities etc.

I doubt any MAGA supporters are getting much criticism from Trump though...
