Is it me? Or are the quality of mobile phones fucking shit these days?

Literally the last three phones I've had over the past few years have been shit. Both the handset (speed, getting stuck, apps not loading etc) and the quality of actual phone calls where it just sounds like the other person is under water.

Mobile phones and all the shit that comes with them. I fucking hate them. They're like mini computers that just don't work.

I agree and couple that with Tesco mobile, most of the time it just doesn’t work when I’m out and about. Drives me mad.

Newstartplease24 · 03/02/2026 20:51

And yet they are so expensive!

Rocknrollstar · 03/02/2026 20:52

I think it depends on your provider, the brand of phone and how much you pay for it.

IWantNiceNeighbours · 03/02/2026 20:52

They aren't cheap phones either they are good brands that I used to have so much faith in. They're just shit!

A lot of it is the mobile networks are also shit so nothing works properly when you are out and about

Planned obsolescence at work I think

I find it with everything, now though. It's all quickly made rubbish that falls apart quickly. We're constantly replacing things, even that were formerly good brands. All made in a rush with cheap parts.

The cheap Chinese cars worry me the most. They're everywhere here. It was tempting to buy one last year, but common sense took over, thankfully!! I paid more for a second hand quality car than the Chinese was brand new.

It's our own fault for wanting everything cheap. I was happy to pay for things that last!!

I've been fine with Samsung phones. It handles multiple apps pretty well. The call quality sometimes isn't great but I assumed that was down to the network rather than phone (but how could I tell?).

I've got a Google pixel 10 pro and it's pretty tidy

I agree with this. The quality of literally everything has gone to shit, from make up and clothes to cars to food to gadgets. It's all crap. I too was happy to pay more!

@Jolleean i am still using a 2016 Samsung j3 phone, it doesn’t support any apps, but it’s fine for making /taking calls and texts, phones don’t really interest me anyway, I’ve got a nice iPad for browsing etc. iPhones are so expensive i could not justify that. And I get sad thinking where they all end up too
