40th trip: big group of friends+kids

All my uni friends are turning 40 this year and we want to go on a weekend away with all our families together.
There are 6 couples with 2-3 kids each (ranging from babies to 10 year olds)
3 couples with no kids

We want 2-3 nights. Ideally not to far from London/SE.
Has anyone done a trip like this? Where did you stay? What kind of accommodation? We don't all need to be under one roof but want to stay at the same place. I'm wondering about camping but worry about the weather in the UK. I'm hoping to get some specific suggestions from people who have done this type of trip.

What about a holiday park with lodges rather than camping?

Yes that's the kind of thing that would work but id like some specific recommendations of places

Not sure if Cornwall is too far from London, but Retallack resort is really good. There’s a wide range of accommodation types and sizes. We’ve been lots of times on our own and with friends.

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for, thank you. Maybe a bit far from London though. I'd love to find something similar where there is exclusive hire and it's not too fancy.

interesting. Have you stayed there before? How does it work for a big group? Would you book out a whole lodge?

I was also wondering about a campsite that has different options e.g. own tents, glamping, cabins so families can choose what to stay in but all be near each other. Does anyone know a site like this?
