Anyone else got hayfever already?!!

Or “seasonally-affected rhinitis”, as according to my doctor it’s only hayfever in summer.

It’s tree pollen that gets me worst of all, so it always starts early in the year, but it started last week - January feels a bit bloody much!! It’s freezing cold still, I’m up to my knees in mud - and I’m sneezing and wheezing and my eyes are streaming. I’m still taking vitamin D to help with SAD and now I’ve started on antihistamines too.

It feels like nature is out to get me! 😫

No. But we have snow falling so definitely not springing spring at the moment.

It’s not spring here either! But my respiratory system doesn’t agree.

Mine's a birch pollen allergy OP and I'm already getting the sore, dry eyes and the tiredness. On top of everything else I've had this autumn/winter that hasn't finished with me yet!

I have it all year pretty much. Can’t have a real Christmas tree due to allergies. Or a nice bright bunch of daffodils in the house. Or scented candles.

I now take 180mg of Fexofenadine every night plus a nasal spray in the mornings when it’s particularly bad. I find taking the Fexofenadine every night dampens down the histamine response over time and I become less sensitive.

I get bad autumn/winter allergies from mold spores and fungus. It's a nightmare trying to convince everyone you're not ill all the time.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 03/02/2026 14:30

Sorry for everyone else who’s also struggling but at least I feel less alone now!

Yes, I have, I had thought it was just a dust issue but could be hay fever starting already. It started yesterday, the first day I was supposed to be trialling contact lenses and my eyes are so itchy I daren’t put them in. I’ve just ordered an air purifier to see if that makes any difference in the bedroom and I’ve damp-wiped every surface today to see if that helps.

It’s miserable, wishing you all the best OP.

I woke up today feel ing inexplicably very achey, tired, eyes streaming (they still are now) - and now I’ve seen this thread I’m wondering if this is why!
