Anyone remember Puddle Lane?

I loved the books when I was a child. I think there was a tv show as well. I remember one 'When the clock struck thirteen' being really mysterious and a bit scary. Also, there was a book called The Sandalwood girl and The Silver river. I think the Sandalwood girl had to find the river to become a real girl again, but I might be wrong. Some books followed each other to make a complete story, but i think there were many different stories about a steeet called Puddle lane where lots of strange things happened and odd characters lived. There was a magician and I think his house was the main focus.

They were bloody well written, as I recall. I was totally enthralled. Not even sure how old I was or when they ended.

I just found a stack of these books in our collection. No idea what to do with them. There seem to be loads on vinted, it doesn't look like they sell fast.

Loved Puddle Lane! I watched it with my son and I taught him to read with the books. I kept the books and my son used them with his kids. We also had a cat called Pegs (after Tim cat's mum) & I made my son the Magician's costume. Happy days!

Yes and I still have my Tim Catchamouse book.

And the book about a cranky old lady who complains about the children playing in the street. (Can't remember the name of that one?)

If you put them on all together in one listing I’m sure they’ll sell. I think it’s individual ones that take a while to go

Ah Mrs Pitter-Patter!

Love Puddle Lane, hence my username! We have a whole stack of my old books. We used to sing the little tune when we were expecting visitors ‘Abracadabra, pen and ink, magic xxx before you can blink!’

I loved these! There was a terrifying one about a dragon, I remember.

I loved Puddle Lane! The red, green and orange colours of the levels on the books.

The books were just as multicultural as my surroundings; with Sarah and Davy, Gita and Hari.

The Griffle (green and kind) and the Gruffle (Red and mean).

Mrs Pitter-patter, mr Gotobed, the wide awake mice I could go on and on.

my reading was a bit competitive because of those books to be honest. And I was desperately jealous of my cousin who had an impeccable collection. Blush

It's lovely that so many people remember them! I agree they were a bit spooky looking back. I will see if I can find some.

Not spooky so much as haunting but in a comforting sort of way. Imo!

There's a restaurant near me which gives your bill at the end of a meal tucked into a puddle lane book. Guess it's a bit of retro / cute but always brings a tear to my eye as I remember reading the books as a child!

This is wonderful ! Could you please message me with the name and location? The books were loved by all our children.
