What would you buy?

I have been gifted £200 of gift vouchers for John Lewis. What would you buy??

I could be sensible and put it towards a new TV which we need, or my husband is very keen on an air fryer.

Or I could just spend it on lovely things for me. But what? Jewelery? Nice bag? Don't really want to spend it on clothes.

What would you do?

If you don’t know, the sensible thing would be to hang on to it until you need a new bag or shoes. But they do sell some lovely jewellery.

I’d buy something lovely for you to keep. There are some lovely leather bags reduced in the sale. You could get a bag and something else too face cream or something.

A bag only if you really want to use it, similar to jewellery or skin care/make up.

I must admit, most gift cards end up being used for the family. Unless it's Amazon and I buy books.

It's different if I get the money and can spend it where I want.

Saying that, we just got an Airfryer for Christmas and loving it.

I would say if you got everything for the house up and running good then treat yourself if not make it useful for the house

whatwasthatnoise · 01/02/2026 21:36

Would the giver want you to spend it on yourself, or would be happy for it to go on family treats/expenses?

If there was no specific request, I'd spend the voucher on new bedding which we could really do with replacing.

Assuming you can spend them at Waitrose too I'd buy a really special meal and some wine for Valentines Day and would then tuck the rest away and have a think about what I really wanted.

Scent, neom pillow spray.

Craftyrose · 02/02/2026 20:19

These are all great ideas. Thanks loads.
The giver won't mind at all what it is spent on but probably would say something for me rather than the house.

Bedding is a great idea. We have just had the bedroom done so having new bedding would be a good plan! Could buy nice blankets!

I've been given John Lewis vouchers before, and spent them on lovely food treats from Waitrose that we wouldn't normally buy.

I would absolutely go for a new bag for spring, there are still some decent ones on sale, the woven Dune bag is popular at the moment.

Spend it on lovely things for yourself - maybe some new perfume and a nice bag
