Thailand in the rain?

We’re looking to go to Thailand this summer, because of DS GCSEs and then DD doing hers and various other commitments, this is the only time we can go.

I’m aware that it will be wet, but it also seems very cheap! 😄 We have lived in Florida so understand ‘boiling hot but torrential downpours’ type of weather, which we can definitely cope with, is it like that, or is is just constant unrelenting rain, which might be less fun?

I’m looking at Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khao Lak, Koh Samui type of itinerary, probably about 18 days in August. Me, DH, DS15 & DD13, all fit and well, good travellers - what do you think?

Go for it. It will hammer it down for a few hours a day and at night, but won't be an issue for doing stuff as like you say, it's like being in a warm shower. You should still have plenty of sunny parts. And you'll know when it's about to rain as it will get windy ten mins before.

I have been to Bangkok in August and April - weather was similar both times really, very hot with heavy rain for a couple of hours in the afternoon! I think Koh Samui has good weather in the summer, it’s the other coast that gets the rain (I have been to Phuket in August, it was very hot but mostly overcast with heavy rain in the afternoons - in April we had no rain at all) Both were great holidays though, I would go again in August if it was the only time I could go.
