How much would you expect to pay for a new bathroom?

Rosemary61 · 31/01/2026 12:25

Average sized with room for bath/shower (not separate) completely refurbished
Have had 2 quotes so far - one just over £9000, the other just under £8000 for the same work.
Just wondering what people have paid recently.

Circa £5,000 for parts, tiles, floor and fitting everything. This included a spa jetted tub and changing configuration

StrawberryJamAndRaspberryPie · 31/01/2026 12:32

We were quoted £8-10k recently for a bathroom. So yours seems about right.

That sounds very good value for money.
We're on the outskirts of London and our bathroom was around £10k in 2022, with around £3.5k of that being "stuff" (suite, taps, radiator, tiles etc) and about £6.5k being plumbing/plastering/tiling/electrics (new extractor and spotlights). I'd expect that to be more like £12k now.

Seems about right. Of course it depends on the spec, there can be a massive difference in prices even on basic things like taps.

We recently had ours done. We got quotes all very different. We went with a plumber who gave us a catalogue to get the fixtures and fittings from direct. He had no interest in marking up those. He just charged for hours worked. Saved a lot of money in comparison to other quotes from companies who deliver complete designs.

nagnagnag · 31/01/2026 12:39

We got a quote last year and they said £10000. Small bathroom - shower, sink and toilet.

Purplecatshopaholic · 31/01/2026 12:40

I got my shower room completely redone last year. Was just under 8k

HelpMeGetThrough · 31/01/2026 12:40

Ours was completely gutted, fully tiled, new floor and all the bits.

Professionally fitted, all in £4K.

Wow that's really good. When did you get it done?

Was about 3 years ago, but prices here are still the same, judging by what someone I know recently paid.

parkezvous · 31/01/2026 22:38

Just having ours done. En-suite and family bathroom. £13k

Everything0Everywhere · 31/01/2026 23:07

Small 2x2m bathroom. Completely stripped then re-tiled plus everything fitted...generally prices around £7-8k but other places quoted over £15k. I was shocked to say the least!

Beaverbridge · 31/01/2026 23:13

6500k totally gutted. Bath ripped out replaced with shower. New flooring ceiling with lights, no tiling to save cleaning grouting down the line. Wall panels instead.

bumptybum · 31/01/2026 23:15

How long is a piece of string? It’s like asking how much a handbag costs.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 31/01/2026 23:20

I paid 8.5K last autumn. New bath with shower over, hand basin with cupboard under, toilet, vertical towel rail radiator, half-tiling, skim ceiling, extractor, spotlights, flooring. This in East Anglia.

Femalefootyfan · 31/01/2026 23:29

We had ours done in November last year. Everything ripped out including tiles on all walls and floor and included a skip, walls had to be skimmed due to tile removal and floor slightly levelled because of tiling and slight adjustments made around the bath and previous sink/cabinet set up. the bath, loo, sink/cabinet and shower (we already had the laminate flooring). We had shower panels fitted instead of tiles, no change in the configuration or plumbing, cost around 4k. DH decorated so that cost didn’t include that. We kept the towel radiator, got a new light fitting and a new blind and a few bits of accessories so total cost no more than 4.6k. We’re in the north if that makes a difference

ChocolateSardine · 31/01/2026 23:34

I've just had three quotes. The cheapest was £9500. The most expensive was £16,000! I just about fainted because that's without any change of layout. We're still shopping around.

Femalefootyfan · 31/01/2026 23:36

Can’t edit my post again but we sourced the bath, shower, loo and sink/cabinet as well as the shower panels, that probably helped keep the overall cost down

BigBadBarrie · 31/01/2026 23:52

We just had our bathroom completely re done, got a plumber in to do pipe work for the seperate shower above the bath, but bought a complete suit that came with everything from victoria plumbing, got lovely brick tiles in b and q in clearance, plus grout, electric mirror, paint, furnishing etc cost us around £1,800 by doing the rest ourselves. My husband works in a trade but nothing to do with houses, and never done anything relating to bathroom fitting before but watched youtube videos for anything he wasnt sure of.

Vetoncall · 31/01/2026 23:59

We've just had our main bathroom done, complete rip-out and refit, quite a big room. We got rid of the bath and put in a 1.8m frameless walk in shower, with a stud wall built for a storage niche thing, sink and toilet both moved, new extractor system installed, floor tiled, walls skimmed and tiled, floating vanity with inset sink, matching tallboy, back to wall comfort height toilet, dual head shower, heated towel rail, new radiator, huge mirror with bluetooth/demister/sensor operated light etc.

We bought absolutely everything bar paint from a local bathroom and tile supplier and used a plasterer and fitter that they recommended - the fitter organised the electrician as well. Came in at £10,500 all in which is what we were expecting. It looks amazing and I absolutely love it, which is just as well as it won't be getting changed again in a hurry!

Thanks, I'm considering changing to wall panels for the same reason!

We’re getting ours done in April and paying £2.7k labour (fully stripped, full re tile, new floor, all plumbing etc) and then we are buying the materials which I’ve priced up as somewhere between £4.5-5k. He reckons it will be 7/8 days in total.

user1476613140 · 01/02/2026 07:42

I have a family bathroom with wet wall panels throughout. Got installed in February 2020 and yes it's easier not having to grout but our silicone sealant needs cleaning regularly as mould grows on it at the part of the bath where shower is used. It's kept in good condition otherwise. I may rip out old sealant this spring to freshen it up though round the windowsill area.

I also have a wet room on the ground floor and we chose tiles this time with a shower tray. I didn't want to put panels in because of the issues with the mould upstairs. I constantly wipe down the sealant in the wet room.

Lovelynames123 · 01/02/2026 07:42

My full bathroom refurb, new suite including vanity, cladding on all walls, new flooring plus moving plumbing and adding electric for a mirror cost just under £3k for all parts. Ex fitted it all at no charge but if you were paying a trade I'd expect it to easily double your cost
