I sent in my sons DLA form last year and got the text message that they received my application on 20/05/2025 and then received a letter on 29/08/2025 saying that he doesn’t qualify for DLA at all.
I provided so much evidence (detailed answers to all the questions on the form, diaries to show his day to day life, reports from his paediatrician and speech therapist and reports and statements from SENIT, his nurseries SENCO and his pre-school class teachers (gymnastics, music ect.) and the leader of a SEN stay and play that we go to. There was literally nothing else that I could have added.
I did the appeal/mandatory reconsideration which was confirmed to be received on 10/09/2025 and I’m still waiting to hear back. With that I sent a report from our local carers charity (during the meeting with her she said she didn’t understand how they hadn’t given him any award and that he should get at least middle rate care..) and his autism diagnosis report as he wasn’t diagnosed when I first applied but it’s not supposed to be based on diagnosis anyway…

I’m just so confused about it all…

They will turn down almost every claim the 1st time round it's as if they want you to prove you are serious about needing it.

I even knew someone with a terminal cancer diagnosis who was refused DLA until appeal.

My daughter was awarded LRC no mobility. Shes on overnight cpap has chest physio multiple times a day, takes medication that affects her skin meaning she needs emollient head to toe 2 times a day. There is not a month we aren't at hospital. Constantly falling over. We did a COC as she's now over 5 and things are taking longer. Shes just been awarded MRC and LRM. Inwas told I should have done a mandatory reconsideration by her medical team after the 1st award
