SCREAM!!! NatWest banking app

I successfully installed this on my phone about 20 minutes ago and made a payment, all confirmed.

Then I thought "Oh I'll just log on again and check back at payments in to my account, I forgot to do that".

So I entered the 3 requested digits of my "passcode" and got "something's not right, try again". Tried again, same message. Tried again, now going to be locked out.

FUCKS SAKE! I just created that passcode 20 minutes ago. I have NOT forgotten it. Fuckingfuckingfuck NatWest up the jacksy.

The app doesn't request 3 digits of your pass code, it needs an entire code

luckylavender · 30/01/2026 18:37

Mine asks for 3, I just checked

dementedpixie · 30/01/2026 18:38

This is why I set mine up for biometrics so I use my fingerprint to sign in to my banking apps

I'm android and have a code to sign into the app, it has never asked me for just part of that code. Online banking, absolutely, but not the natwest app

Reading between the lines, I can tell you’re a bit frustrated, op. Is it an option to uninstall the app, then re-install it? Hope you get it sorted, anyway.

rightoguvnor · 30/01/2026 18:44

I think on the actual website you are asked to enter 3 random digits of your telephone PIN along with your customer number
The app asks for an 8 digit code

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 30/01/2026 18:55

It's all so scary. Digital banking. Try uninstalling it and then reinstall it. Good luck.

Lloyd's annoyed me yesterday dd was trying to do a transfer from her savings to her current account wouldn't let her do this transfer. She called up told she needed to go into the branch.
Has she has special needs I help her with her banking so off we go into the branch so I can talk on her behalf. Sort the problem out takes around an hour. Perfect we think.
DD decides she wants to eat and hasn't got her bank card with her so she tries to log into the app which was all up working fine after sorting it in the bank and it won't let her log in.
Head back to the bank and they say she needs to call the fraud department they can't deal with it in branch.
So after an hour on the phone and an hour in the bank we finally have it all sorted.
Banking is a nightmare these day wanted to now who she was transferring money too, why she was sending it,. Was she forced to send it etc.
She was only sending £200

My app asks me for a five digit code to log in.

Nat West are utter bastards- I will never ever bank with them or buy any of their products. Don't get me started on 'Cora' their fucking chat bot. Bitter having to deal with with them in relation to my late mother's will. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot'- Mum had a substantial sum invested - would I invest with them - never in a million years. Google reviews on them they are horrific. My very tenacious sister's blood pressure was through the roof - they lost documents constantly and promised payment so many times that never came. speaking to a person takes such a long time. If you go in a branch the staff 'can't help' and you have to go online- so inept. By contrast Barclays were really efficient. Sorry you have to deal with them.

This is so weird - I had this exact problem today too! For me it was confusing bc the pin they were asking for wasn’t the pin for the card but the pin they’d texted me when I set up the account (which was about a week before i received the card). Luckily I realised before I got blocked but yes it was an absolute pain in the arse to set up and I was cursing. It seemed a very complicated process. I’ve now downloaded the app to use facial recognition.
