A bloke keeps messaging me. He's married as am I. He was making it obvious he fancied me last time I saw him ( out drinking).
He's sent a couple of messages obviously wanting to start a dialogue. I've seen them but not opened them. I've restricted hm now am hoping he can't see me online?
I will probably block if he carries on.

Ignore him or block him it doesnt matter if he knows you are online or not.

chattyness · 30/01/2026 15:46

I would just block him

So what if he sees you're online or have read his messages? Just don't answer or block him, but just stop.giving him space in your head!

LushLemonTart · 30/01/2026 16:11

It's not him I was worried about It's his wife. But if she asks why I blocked him I'll just say I don't like men messaging me. Doubt she will though.

If his wife has concerns then she needs to communicate them with her husband. Ignore both of them!

If it helps I have an ex fling that got married 2 years ago, had a new baby a year ago, his wife is 'well known' in Ireland as in a celeb type person here and he still sends me the odd message if he is in my hometown etc and asking how I am. I just read messages and ignore. If I wanted to let the wife know it would be fairly easy but I just do not engage and if she ever had suspicions and looked at his account she could see this. Not for me to police what others do just what I do myself.

To answer your question no, if you restrict someone they can’t see when you’re online.

I would however just block him.

Chiefangel · 30/01/2026 16:19

You can switch your active status off in settings so no one will know when you’re online.
