Book recommendations please

I've a friend just diagnosed with aggressive cancer. I need some nice book recommendations please for her. She likes easy, not too slushy, but nothing terribly 'worthy'.

Anu suggestions please?

Eva Ibbotson’s books - she intentionally wrote them for ‘very intelligent women who have the flu’ so they are nicely written and very, very easy going. I like A Song for Summer best.

I’ve enjoyed books by Ruth Jones (Nessa in G and S)) recently.
Good stories with a bit of substance to them.

Does she have a childhood book/author that she has fond memories of? These can be very comforting.

Mm not that I know of, and it might be a bit too much sentiment for her. ATM she is on 'im fine it's all going to be fine'.
