Colposcopy letter - now the panic....

I've had a formidable HPV which I cannot seem to get rid of, after the 3rd positive of course I'm referred!
The letter says no abnormal cells detected though but now the what if's have kicked in.
If you were referred recently how long was your wait?
Im going to try and not stress ( my wedding on 3months I'm sure will help take over)
I have acute health anxiety as it is and I'm shaking as I type this.

No abnormal cells detected is great news. I also had a colposcopy following a 3rd HPV positive result. At the repeat smear test a year later, the HPV had cleared. Hope that helps reassure you.

Thank you.
It's the HPV that's annoying, I looked on the NHS and the test was "high risk" strain.
That's great news yours cleared! Lots of reassurance there thank you.
I'm 40 next year so if all is well and the HPV has packed itself up I'll be very very grateful xx

Hi. I was in your position, high risk HPV not clearing after many years then borderline cell changes. I had to go back 6 months later for a retest, which I did, but was so freaked out waiting for the results I started doing research and came up with this:
https://livbio.co.uk/product/papilocare-vaginal-gel/?srsltid=AfmBOoriIvEqI9yzMCSE1JuSs9k8Up3OKJZktavGbQsIumT4GC-fuDwb

I used this and the tablets but before I knew whether they were going to work I had a letter through to say I was HPV clear! I have kept them though, just in case it comes back. I hav a very tricky cervix so not chance of a lletz procedure.

Try not to freak out, they’re on top of it now and will treat it long before it becomes a big problem. That being said report any bleeding etc asap and maybe try above, it makes you feel like you can cope when you’re doing something proactive. Best of luck x

Try not to worry OP, it’s great news there are no abnormal cells. Like you, I had HPV that I couldn’t shift for over a decade. Had various colposcopies and did have to have a LLETZ but I’ve come out the other side now all clear and back to routine smears 😊

That all sounds very positive. I had a colposcopy with abnormal cells years ago (this was when they only tested for HPV after the abnormal cells). Biopsy was a bit abnormal but nothing that needed more than monitoring.

That was 20 years ago. Smear tests went back to normal after about 2 years. I’ve never had another abnormal one. My HPV test when I had one under the new testing programme was clear. 🤷🏻‍♀️ All fine.

I had a colposcopy last week and biopsies taken - I think it was a few weeks between getting the letter and my appointment. I have been HPV positive for years. I’ve already been treated once so will move on to the next level of treatments if anything comes back on the biopsy.

The dr reassured me last time by saying it takes years and years for anything to develop into cancer which is why regular smears are so important - so they can pick anything up and treat it.

Thank you so much for this.
Thank the lord for the testing nowadays.
It makes me want to stress the importance of testing.

Update, I had a text today saying they have limited appointments tomorrow and next week if I want to book so I'm in for tomorrow at 14:30. So glad we have the tech now to be so sufficient of there are cancellations to get them filled etc. I'm trying not to worry as I managed to put it at the back of my mind for a little while!

Aaaand here is another update.
All done, looked closer, the nurse took a biopsy as she said what she could see was CIN1 she seemed confident in this and said I saw her results in upto 4weeks. Back to the panic board, again!!

Deep breaths @Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair, remember THAT IS NOT CANCER! It is cell changes that can sort itself out in 60-80% of cases. If not the LLETZ will remove the affected cells. My friend had it done at 19 and went on to have a strapping DS and no reoccurrence. This is a horrible blip in the road that is very slow to develop to anything worrying. Try the gel and the vitamins to do something positive and look forward to your wedding.

Will be thinking of you x

Thank you both so much xx
