Travel Advice - Oakworth/ Keighley, West Yorkshire area

Is anyone local to the Oakworth/ Keighley area and can offer some advice about travelling there tomorrow, please? DH and are attending a funeral at Oakworth crematorium tomorrow, and I’m concerned about getting there due to the yellow warning for ice tomorrow - would the road from Keighley up to Oakworth, and the road to the crematorium, be gritted? I don’t know the area very well but can see that it’s quite high up in the hills and not far from Haworth and the moors, so I’m not sure if it would be on a gritting route if the weather is bad.

I feel stupid asking the question, but DH and I have been dealing with a lot of stress recently and worrying about the weather and the road conditions seems to have tipped me over the edge into feeling very anxious. I’m hoping having more information will reassure me.

If anyone can help, I’d be very grateful!

I haven’t been to that area for a lot of years but remember the road to Oakworth is a main one and would be busy, hgv’s using it etc. Weather forecast is good for tomorrow. Honestly can’t think it would be an issue.

I live in Haworth and the main bus routes will be gritted. The back roads usually aren’t. However, as it stands at the moment the roads are fine. But if in doubt maybe leave your car in Keighley and take a taxi?

The B6143 from Keighley (Oakworth Road) to Oakworth (it then turns into Keighley Road) as you get into Oakworth is a bus route and will be gritted. The crematorium is then just a short walkout of Oakworth, so if need be, you could park in Oakworth and walk from there (I’d be surprised if you need to, though). If I see anything on localFB sites in the morning that will affect this route, I’ll post again here. Sorry for your loss.

Just to add - as a PP has said, you don’t want to be taking the back roads eg Laycock/Goose Eye.

Thank you everyone - it’s very reassuring to know that Oakworth Road would be gritted, and we’ll avoid the back roads. Love that there’s a road called Goose Eye!
