Twitching and thudding lower left abdomen

Can anyone reassure me this is normal please?

Since Friday i have been having increasing weird feelings in my lower belly. It is to the left side. Starts about an inch above the end of my c section scar and goes up to level with my belly button.

It initially felt like a baby kicking. I have had 3 kids so know that. But I am 50 and have a coil and have no other symptoms, and it is in exactly the same places each time so I am pretty sure it is not that.

It feels like banging, poking, thumping around. I can feel it from outside my body with my hand if I press down. It is distracting me from conversations etc. It isnt like a sharp pain but it does feel uncomfortable, hurts a bit and is unpleasant.

Do bowels sometimes do this? Do I just ignore it? My bowels seem otherwise working as normal. But it is getting to me, happening more and more of the time.

Thank you for any insight

The only way to be sure that this is/isn't something of (early) concern is to see your GP. Ask for blood tests, including a Ca-125, typically gastrointestinal tests are requested first when gynaecological causes should also be considered at the initial consultation in women aged 50. Ensure you also have a physical examination. Ask for red flag signs and symptoms of sinister causes

I hope all goes well for you

If you are sure it definitely isn’t an unexpected pregnancy (unlikely but not impossible at your age), I would simply assume it’s a bowel spasm. It’s exactly as you describe. I’d give it time and see if it calms down and consider an antispasmodic (like Buscopan) or peppermint oil capsules.

Thank you for replies.

Pretty sure it isnt pregnancy. It feels like full on baby kicking, not the gentle start of pregnancy. But there is definitely not a full baby inside me.

I just took some peppermint capsules, will get buscopan to try, and if it does not resolve then will attempt to get an appointment.

It is starting to feel bruised now from so much thumping, it hurts.

Tbh id get it checked out OP. Our insides do move about sorting our waste out and pushing it round. I feel it more when I'm dehydrated. You have a main vein running in that area, so if I felt what feels like a baby kicking thats so distracting, id want someone to have a feel.

Thank you. It is aching quite a bit now and thumping me very frequently. Next is to try to get an appointment.
