Originally Dd was going on holiday with my ex and her 2 younger brothers. Hes not her dad but they used to be close, they sre not anymore and he removed her from the holiday. So me and her are going to spend some time together and do some things . Originally I booked a forest holiday afor us. As I thiught it would be something different. But then realised she probably wouldn't want to do the activities. Plus my budget for a holiday in August isn't great. So instead I thought we could do day outs/treats.

My budget is upto 850 at the very most. I have booked us in to see wicked at the theater.

I don't drive so I need to use public transport. I live in London.

This is what she won't like museums, spars, pamper type things. Heritage gardens/national trust. Theme parks..

It feels a bit hard because it doesnt leave much else. But hoping there may be something I haven't thought of.

How old is she?

NewYearNewMee · 26/01/2026 09:54

How old is she? It sounds like she wouldn’t like lots of things 😂 I can see why you’re finding it difficult!

How old is she?

Do you both want to go away or stay in London and do activities each day?

We like a few nights in a different city. There's always something interesting to see even just walking around a new area. A different cinema, different shops.

It doesn't have to be massively exciting if you're just away together in a different place?

Could she have some of the holidays budget to spend shopping? Doing that without her little brothers might be fun?

in that case, put some money aside. Offer her a choice of dates. And tell her to come to you when she thinks of something?

Shopping trip may be an idea. I don't mind going out of london as long as its not to bad to get to. Shes 16. I just feel guilty that its not a holiday.

Some things probably need booking though.

Poor girl.

Book a couple of nights in a Premier Inn in another city, take a friend as well and go shopping etc?

Tumbler777 · 26/01/2026 10:21

Even in August you should be able to do maybe three days away with her, easy flights to places like to Seville, Rome and even Morocco for girls few days

dizzyupthegirl86 · 26/01/2026 10:22

What about a rage room or an escape room (depending on which you think she’d enjoy more!)
if she’s into social media and the like, could you go and do a bit of a day trip to try some viral food spots she likes the look of?
improv comedy show type thing?

it might be nice to lean into her age, and do things she wouldn’t get to do with her younger siblings.

Brighton is about an hour by train from London (Victoria or Bridge, or Clapham Junction or East Croydon is you are further south of the river).
There's the cool antique/vintage shops, the pier with a small fairground on.
Bournemouth is a couple of hours from Waterloo.
Bournemouth is nicer if you want a sandy beach.

helpfulperson · 26/01/2026 10:24

A short city break? Places like krakow you could get a three or four night break for that.

I can't do anything linked to food .

Have you done the RAF museum at Hendon?
Maybe see if there's any air shows planned for those dates (although they can be cancelled at the last minute if weather is bad).

DysmalRadius · 26/01/2026 10:26

Chocolate making workshop?
Open top bus tour?
Loads of free things to do in London - sky garden, Outernet, galleries, markets - would any of those in interest her?

Needmorelego · 26/01/2026 10:27

@LostTooManyScrews does she like watching the airplanes?
Gatwick is easy to reach by train and you could spend the day spotting.
(I am the daughter of a plane spotter so this is a normal day out for me 🙂)

She's been to Hendon twice in less than a year. Im just looking up air shows now kind of trapped because it needs to be the first week of August..

Duxford is going to hit the spot if she likes planes. Boy do they have planes.
You can get a bus there from Cambridge or Royston railway stations.

She does that about every 4-6 weeks with her father.
