Upgrade from Premium Economy to Business

BA to Caribbean, 2 of us. the economy tickets were paid by work so we’ve upgraded to PE which cost about 800. They are now offerIng an upgrade to business for £500 each. I’m undecided, much as I like business, it seems a lot to spend an extra £1000 for an 8 hour flight….

Business class is worth it for an overnight flight, not so much for a day flight

If you wait until you check your bags in at the airport and ask them for a price on the day to upgrade from PE to Business, you’ll potentially get the upgrade for cheaper (assuming the BA flight is not a code share run by another airline eg American Airlines). We’ve done it for NY and it cost us £300 each.

As per PP, the difference between PE and business on board isn’t worth £800 on a day flight but it shows you they’ve got space so if you hold out for the desk, it often works. Have a lovely trip!

I love BA business so if you can afford it, do it! The leap between PE and business is far greater than economy to PE in my opinion.

Have you found out whether it’s the modernised business class cabin or is it the old style? I had the old style on the Punta Cana route and we paid a lot on booking - I felt quite short-changed tbh. Having said that, for the figure above, I would say it’s worthwhile

You've already spent an extra £800 so another thousand and you'd have actually paid £1800 on what should have been "free" flights for you both. But yes, somewhat depends if it's a night or day flight.

I've not been hearing good things about BA business class recently. If you google you can find loads of bad reviews. They're trying to cut costs at every turn. I only fly BA now if I have to (as in no other feasible options).

@peepsypopswow - I didn’t realise that some of the fleet haven’t been changed yet. The old club world is dated, I agree. Poor televisions etc. Tho I did used to like the middle 2 as a couple (not so much if you were next to a stranger!)

You should be able to tell by the seating plan. I think the old configuration is 2/2/2 and the new one 1/2/1? I could be wrong…..
