Just eaten sliced chicken from a pack that was use by the 24th. I thought today was the 24th. Bloody hell.

No, it's only one day. You'd smell and taste it if it was off.

Don’t be silly , presumably it looked and smelled ok , the sliced chicken doesn’t know the date .

When chicken first turns you categorically cannot smell or taste it.

However, 1 day past its date, you're highly unlikely to be ill.

You really should realize that they put at least a three-day or more buffer zone into these dates
I'd eat it a week after with no worries, with look and smell of course

I did wonder about a safety/buffer zone.

And I know that chicken doesn’t know the date.

But still…

Things dont magically go off at midnight on the end of the 24th. Its more a case of how long a packet has been open and exposed to air that will make it go off. If kept unopened and refrigerated that pack would probably still be absolutely fine in 4 weeks

We had mince the other day that was 3 days over, smelt fine so used it. We are all fine.

I know chicken is less forgiving, but 1 day over is nothing. You’d smell it was off before it hit your lips.

If it looked and smelled fine, I'd have eaten it as late as Monday, and maybe even Tuesday.

It's fine (I have many years of hygiene certificates and work in a kitchen).

My husband regulary eats those packs of pre cooked chicken one or even two days after its "use by" he is always fine.
