I think that Love Island (and all reality TV) can be saved with these changes:

I’m spending their day on mine and dd’s hair so we’ve got Love Island on catch up

currently watching them all dance and jump with excitement to… Blue 😂 (so fake, I haven’t been able to raise so much as a smile)

I think that them cutting ties with fashion brands was a huge nail in the coffin

part of the fun would be tuning in for summer outfit inspiration - you can’t do that with eBay!

I’d try and partner up with H&M or Topshop (for obvious reasons, they can’t pair with PLT and Boohoo again) and have the cast wear sponsored clothes again!

i’d do the same for mafs (peacocks 🤭) and Traitors (Net a porter)

i’d also ban the alcohol limits and make contestants sign a waiver if they want to drink 🙄

I’d include random parts of the interactions that show their personalities rather than just stuff that relates to the show

one last thing, is that The Traitors and Love Island gets thousands of applicants each season - yet LI especially ‘recruits’ from a small pool of people who have agents 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ - the pure success of Big Brother in its heyday was that it was completely unconnected randomers. Bring that back, please!

some of you will not like Love Island, and that’s fine but please don’t come for me if you don’t 😂

rant over

I'd ban/ get rid of every single 'reality' TV show that airs. HTH 😆
Awful mind numbing, dumbing down utter shite.
Banned in my house when my kids were teens and wanted to watch it. Thankfully they have grown up now!

Absolutely, it thrives on the desperation of those who “wanna be a ‘sleb”….

So would I, let's just admit they have had their day.

I agree with those who have already commented. Best get rid and have some new viewing options. Even repeats of some of the best tv from the last 30-40 years would be better than most of the reality rubbish imho. Any tv format that results in people suffering mental ill health during or afterwards or even worse suicide isnt worth keeping or attempting to improve. I dont see how your ideas would in any way help.

I love reality TV. I think almost all series (bar RHONY and MAFS) only works for maybe 3 seasons because then it becomes about fame. I agree with listing alcohol limits -
remember Love Island season 2??

I love it too, and I still need to watch season 2. As I caught some of s3 and watched from s4

one of the good things about those seasons was tuning in and seeing real relationships and also seeing what the girls were wearing!!!

But that’s any tv show tbh, that can affect people’s mental health

bullies are everywhere, they can be on tv sets - watching This Morning is just watching the hosts make fun of unwell eccentric people

I agree. Big brother was fantastic when it started and Mafs.

The traitors is excellent.

Shows get ruined when it’s fame hungry wannabes on there

"But that’s any tv show tbh, that can affect people’s mental health"
Its really not.
This Morning is a rubbish example as that itself kinda a cross between reality tv and a news programme. Ditto Jeremy Kyles show which has also resulted in a tragic death. They are both basically reality chat shows. And as you say they are very often just an excuse to laugh at eccentric people. How lovely.

A quick google suggests that 38 people have tragically taken their own lives as a result of becoming reality tv celebrities.
How many have done so having been actors on tv dramas/films? Very few. Even fewer if you remember that reality tv only really took off as a format about 20-25 years ago. TV dramas having been around for a lot longer.
