Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in silence, in my kitchen spot. The cats have had their breakfast, had a mad half hour, and gone back upstairs. Boy cat was wandering round shouting but has stopped now so he's probably in bed with one of the girls.

Today's dd1's 19th birthday so when she gets up we'll do presents and cards and a transfer of money. She needs to be up before 11am as my dad's calling to see her! I'm not sure if she actually wants to do anything today - she said no to eating out or going somewhere for the day, when we asked earlier in the week 🤷‍♀️. We had birthday takeaway last night so there are leftovers tonight & she's not carting it back to London tomorrow afternoon.

I'm just about to take my tablets & sort my morning tablets for the coming week, then I'll have a tidy round in the kitchen (my dad always sits in here) and sort a load of washing, before I go up to get dressed.

If dd1 doesn't want to do anything with her day then I'll probably spend it crafting - I'm trying to finish off a crochet thread village I started years ago. 5 pieces to go!! I also need to think about some peg dolls for work - I haven't painted any in a while, so maybe I'll base coat something simple 🤔.

Dd2 has done all her homework already 🥳 so if dd1 doesn't want to go out, I suspect I will be crafting while watching the latest episode of The Rookie while she does some sort of revision for upcoming mocks.

We'll have the Chinese for tea, followed by showers all round. I'll have a couple of hours with my book, and then an early night ready for work tomorrow 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 25/01/2026 09:28

I have work at 4pm followed by a sleep in shift.

Currently just lounging in bed.

reversegear · 25/01/2026 09:36

I’m up had coffee in bed, scrolling and thinking what to do, I need to choose fabric for my new Roman blinds but that’s a trip to John Lewis and I’m not sure I’m in the mood, I have 4 dogs so it’s always a walkies day, and I have a pork joint to roast later and I have all the ingredients to batch cook a ton of butternut squash soup so I could equally have a kitchen and radio day!

i also have a big clear out to do as I’m trying to de-clutter, too many things!

garlictwist · 25/01/2026 09:39

Just been for a swim. DH and I were planning on going mountain biking but the weather is total dogshit so we are thinking of the cinema instead.

Kim82 · 25/01/2026 09:40

Happy 19th birthday to your dd!

I have another day of no plans and pottering about the house. I’m stripping and washing all the bed sheets today, need to iron school and work clothes and hoover, etc as I didn’t do any of that yesterday. I probably need to get dd11 out of the house for a couple of hours but I’m not sure where to take her yet.

Tea tonight is steak pie, mash and veg then showers and early nights ready for school and work tomorrow.

Tangerinesattack · 25/01/2026 09:43

Morning all. Both DS and DH are full of the cold so I think today will be a bit of a bust. I'm going to finalise the bookings for our trip to Paris - currently trying to psyche myself up to book Disney tickets - then I'll make some scrambled eggs and English muffins for everyone.
I've got a few bits and pieces I could/should do but I'm not feeling very energetic and it's very much snuggle under a blanket weather here. So I might do that instead! Bit of Poirot and some knitting sounds perfect. Might have a bath, too.
Haggis, neeps and tatties for dinner with cranachan cheese cake for pudding.
Have a great day everyone.

anonocakey · 25/01/2026 09:43

Woke at 7.30 and failed to get back to sleep. So up and tidied the kitchen which was abandoned after dinner last night like the Marie Celeste. Made fresh coffee and DH and I some bagels with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Got some things out of the freezer to dinner this evening. Now doing some school trip related admin. Plans to force the kids out for a walk in a bit with the incentive of some bowling after.

Rainbow1235 · 25/01/2026 09:43

Good morning lucysmam and to u all . Happy birthday to your daughter hope she has a great day . Husband has prepped dinner so I’m sat with a cuppa but will shift soon and do some housework although why I’m bothering I don’t know as grandchildren are up they are 6 3 and 2 so it will be mayhem here 😆. Chilling later with a wine and continue watching the night agent. Have a great and safe day all 🫶

Thesofathatwas · 25/01/2026 09:43

Laundry probably.
A nap later.
The home work battle will of course start at some point and end at bed time.
Homemade chicken pie for tea tonight.
Nice quiet day today ready for the coming working week.

Becs258 · 25/01/2026 09:46

Happy birthday to your daughter. I’m heading to London to watch Brentford play Nottingham Forest.

DilemmaDelilah · 25/01/2026 09:46

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone, and happy birthday to your DD1.

I appear to be well(ish) this morning, so I DO have some plans for today! I'm going to go out to pick up some bluebell bulbs that somebody is giving away locally, then on to Morrisons to pick up a Too Good to Go bag, if they don't cancel my order at the last minute. While we're there I might pick up a few extra 'just in case' bits as we are actually due to get some heavy snowfall in the next week or so - not too much, as I always have a good stock of food, including tinned stuff that doesnt need cooking, but probably another loaf of bread and some batteries, maybe some matches. We're all electric so it will be pretty uncomfortable if we lose electricity, but I have candles so we will have light, at least. I thought about buying a camping stove a while ago, but didn't get around to it.

After that I need to get on with washing and drying my daughter's family's laundry, as she has not yet replaced her washing machine. Mr Dilemma is taking it back to her this evening, after picking chorister grandson up from evensong.

I received a message in the middle of the night to say I have won a prize on the lottery, but I can't check how much because their website is undergoing maintenance today. So I may spend quite a lot of time deciding how to spend it 😁.

BCBird · 25/01/2026 09:48

Happy Birthday to your daughter. I'm under the weather, staying with a friend- trying to buy a house and not got a real routine. Ive got books to read, but can't settle. My car is an absolute disgrace inside. I have a leaky window so the carpet is wet and consequently it smells. I don't know if I've got the energy to do anything about it. I.might pop out and treat myself to a Sunday newspaper. It will probably annoy me no doubt. Hope u all get in some ' me' time today. Love these threads, they are one of the few that don't end up turning nasty.

Smithstreet · 25/01/2026 09:48

We went to a friend's birthday last night so I feel a bit worse for wear this morning. Promised I would take DC13 into town later so will do that and get a pastry while out. DC16 going to watch Hamnet and DH hopefully taking DC12 for a bike ride while I am out shopping. Chicken pie for tea, and I have been reminded by a PP I bought ingredients to make Butternut Squash soup for lunches this week. Then tonight it's NFL. I like days like this a few things on but time to chill as well. Have fun everyone.

Simonjt · 25/01/2026 09:51

Happy birthday for your daughter.

We had a big night last night, i’ve been to the gym, my husband is still in bed feeling somewhat ‘unwell’. Apparently it isn’t all the booze, its because we ate dinner early 😂

By the way if you get a chance to see Oh Mary at the theatre take it, it was fantastic. It was great to go out out in London too, we ended the night at the clapham grand so actually felt young again!

We’ve got our flight home in a few hours so we can be home to sort dinner and see what chaos the kids caused with their uncle.

Have a great sunday

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 25/01/2026 09:51

Good lucysmam and others. Happy birthday to your dd1 who shares it with Robert Burns.
I had my grandsons overnight for a sleepover. Dgs2 came through at seven, full of the joys of life then woke his big brother 😂. They cuddled in beside me for five minutes then up to watch Peter Rabbit while I gave them breakfast. I put a washing on and ran the dishwasher then made them second breakfast of soup for dgs2 (I know, but he loves it so who am I to judge?) And a sandwich on square sausage and a tatty scone for dgs1. They both asked for a milkshake so that's been made too. I'm about to suggest to dgs2 that he can get dressed. The rest of the day will be quiet once they are picked up. Enjoy your day all

Myblueclematis · 25/01/2026 09:53

Just having a cup of tea after my breakfast, I will be making an enormous stew when I get myself into gear in the slow cooker to have during the week, no one is coming round today and I'm not going out.

If the weather holds I might go down to the shed and make up a hanging basket for the dwarf daffs and primroses I bought on Monday.

In the afternoon I am hoping my parcel with DPD will be delivered, I ordered a lovely new leather tote bag Thursday and wasn't expecting it until Wednesday so it's really convenient it will be delivered while I'm actually in.

gingercat02 · 25/01/2026 10:03

Happy birthday to your DD, I have always assumed she is Lucy but your user name maybe for another reason.
I have to get to my class a bit early as its really busy due to newbies in January and I hate being right at the front.
DH and DS have football at 2, so I'm going to see my mum.
Fajitas for tea, glass of wine or 2, bit of telly. Bed
Thrilling Sunday 🤣

Bringyourfoldingchair · 25/01/2026 10:08

Morning everyone. I’m still in bed with DS3. DH has just brought me my second coffee and is making noises of taking the little one out a long walk. I’ll get up soon and clean the house and do some laundry. We has DS3’s birthday party yesterday so I’m a bit behind. I think I’ll take DC’s to the leisure centre for a swim and then soft play for the youngest and table tennis for the older two. Cheap activities to pass the day since it’s been forever since I was last paid! A quick walk in the afternoon to let the little one have a go on his little motorbike Santa brought him and then gammon and champ for tea. Might try and source some haggis for DH who lived in Scotland before so likes to mark burns night. Happy Sunday to everyone!

dontforgetme · 25/01/2026 10:11

Good morning @lucysmam and all, happy birthday to your dd!

I’ve woken up absolutely full of cold, so stayed in bed with my kindle for an hour. Up now and drinking a cuppa whilst oh makes omelette’s all round, I feel dreadful and the weather looks miserable so we will be having a house day. We took the kids out all day yesterday so I don’t feel too bad about it. The kitchen needs a tidy up and I have 2 loads of washing to do. Other than that very little will be happening today. My head is banging and I am so blocked up.

Dd has quite a few bits of homework to do so she will be busy and ds is going to start his Fortnite bus Lego.

Pie, mash and veg for dinner then showers/baths and early nights.

Have lovely Sundays all.

OchreSwan · 25/01/2026 10:29

Good morning all! I’ve been up already to put on the dishwasher, start a load of laundry, fold some already clean laundry and scrub the air fryer this morning. Now back in bed with DP enjoying a post-breakfast coffee.

We’ll head to Waitrose shortly to do our food shopping for the week. We’re doing an Ottolenghi chicken dish for dinner this evening, and I think I might use up a load of odds and ends in a soup, inspired by all the PP’s soup making! Also need to drop some clothes and old electrical in the collection bins in the Waitrose car park.

I want to get in a Pilates session later. Then probably a quiet afternoon with a board game, my book and some knitting before an early night.

Happy Sunday to everyone!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 25/01/2026 10:31

Placemarking 🙂

Thislittlekitten · 25/01/2026 10:31

Morning @lucysmam and Happy Birthday to your Burns Bairn.

Up eating pancakes made by DH. Babysitting last night so awaiting them being picked up. Have some washing in and need to do some dishes.

Plan on a quiet day tonight. Dog will need walked. DD has homework when she finally gets up. DS too plus he has a club on. DH will probably disappear to play his game. He’s annoying me so that’s fine.

I need a packed lunch top up shop and uniforms to sort. Plan on more reading of my book.

Sausages for tea tonight.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 25/01/2026 10:35

Husband tested positive for Covid in the week and after thinking I'd escaped it, I've come down with it today. Been awake since 4am with a pounding headache and blocked nose. DH is awaiting an appointment with the Cardiologist about his atrial fibrilation that's got worse recently so I've been watching him like a hawk all week but touch wood he seems over the worst of it so he's on dog walking duty this morning. I'm also panicking as it's wage week at work and judging by how I feel today there's no way I can go in tomorrow. Sigh.

justtheotheronemrswembley · 25/01/2026 10:35

I've just had a bacon sandwich and am drinking coffee. DH has gone out for a walk in the drizzle, the fool.

We're having haggis later as it's Burns Night. I have a Scottish ancestor way back in my family tree, so we thought we might as well.

A family member is travelling back home from Exeter today - or at least they would be if their train hadn't been cancelled. I think there's been a lot of issues on the railways down that way for a couple of days, but hopefully they will make it back home at some point.

TheChosenTwo · 25/01/2026 10:35

Morning all, happy birthday to your dd op - Chinese takeaway is my favourite so that was a good choice!

I’ve been out for a quick swim (more of a dip as it was so bloody freezing, I was in there for about 5 minutes), home for a hot shower and still lying under my electric blanket warming up. Been here for at least an hour now!

Not sure what the day holds for us, weather is pretty drab so may see if ds wants to come to the gym with me and dh will do a roast tonight. Need to do a load of washing. Actually could do with some new bras so I might have a trip to the shops.
