If you could go anywhere for May half term…

Where would you go?

DH has just told me he has enough holiday to get away for May half term. We are a family of 3, DD is 11.

Probably don’t want jet lag as it will only be a week.

I’ve seen people recommend hotels on here before but can’t for the life of me remember the ones that multiple were praising!

We are pretty open in where to go although they will likely want a beach or pool if going for a full week. Not really looking for an active holiday (cycling and stuff). Open to AI to self catering.

Budget is TBC and might flex for the right place as currently in a position to do so (although still talking mega bucks, private chef, yacht in Cannes, they unpacked my clothes money)

Please let me know your best holidays!

(obviously posting here for traffic 🚘)

What kind of weather are you hoping for?

We’ve been to Corfu (nice AI but not super fancy Ikos-style) and it was nice. You could just about swim in the sea, we had pretty good weather during the day and it was warm enough to sit out until late. I love Provence at that time of year too although the sea is quite chilly and if you have an outdoor pool, it really needs to be heated. It’s beautiful though and generally good weather.

I’d go to Luxor - it’s lovely at this time of year. My favourite hotel is probably the Hilton, which is a bit out of the main town and is really quiet and peaceful, with exceptional food and great facilities.

I’ve talked a little more to DH. We would like chance of sun ideally, warm/hot.

Hadn’t considered Egypt but will definitely have a look. Both DH and DD like history so Luxor might be good.

Greece/Greek Islands are definitely on our wish list. DH isn’t so keen on France because she’s been a lot and wants somewhere new but I’ve pointed out DD hasn’t been.
