There’s a mouse in my flat

My cat brought a live mouse in last night, usually her offerings are dead but not this time Hmm
It’s been hiding behind a bookcase, but I’ve just seen it scamper across the floor.
Any ideas how to catch it so I can release it outside again please?

we tried the pot and cardboard trick. We made sure door of the room was shut. Also if it’s in a corner you can’t reach- I left the cat in there with him and he kind of chased him to another wall and we took our chance.

They like peanut butter.

There is a particular kind of humane mouse trap I used many years ago. It's plastic, like a long rectangular box and you set it up with a string of paper with peanut butter on it - it goes in, the box jams shut but doesn't hurt the mouse.

Can you get this in Robert Dyas? I don't know.

When you happen upon said mouse trap it will be shut and heavy - containing mouse. It's a bit like when you lean over on Xmas morning and feel the sack beside your bed is full with presents.

It's said if you release the mouse outside it will happily hot foot it back in your house but if your cat brought it in maybe it will not retrace its steps.
