Running trainers - why are they so hideous??

Its been a goid few years since ive run regularly but i am getting back into it. I really need sone new trainers.

I have had a look onlike and what has happened? I know its about function over how they look but they really do look rudiculoys. Are tgere any less massive clumpy looking varieties or do i just need to suck it up?

If anyone has any suggestions, i am female, road running mostly, slight over pronation. Bit fat if that matters!

Nike Pegasus are unclumpy looking and come in nice colours.

I have a pair of Asics which aren't massive and clumpy, the Gel-cumulus 24.

Have a look at Asics Gel Kayano. They don’t have the massive foam layer and are stable and comfortable.

I have a slight over pronation in my left foot so needed something with a bit of support. I went to a running shop for a gait analysis and they recommended Mizuno wave inspire 22. As running shoes go, I think they look quite nice and aren't massively clumpy. I was quite pleased since most of the support shoes don't look particularly nice but neutral doesn't work for me. Running shoes are so individual I probably wouldn't take a recommendation from anyone without trying on. If you have a running shop near you, highly recommend going in for an analysis (I've had several - free and no obligation to buy) and trying on loads before splashing out on a new pair. They're too pricey to get it wrong.

I have Asics Gel Pulse. My current pairs are purple (or possibly one pair is pink and the other is blue - I'm colourblind!)

I know what you mean though - back in 2011 when I started running I went to get my shoes fitted. He bought out a hideous green (think highlighter green) and white pair to try on
